We had a fantastic week! Students are focused and working hard. We had a great turnout last Friday evening at our Family Fun Night. Thanks to everyone who attended the event. We also would like to celebrate our student council for organizing such a fun event!

Support Gleaners Food Bank
March 13th - March 17th

- Gleaners Food Bank is the single most important source of food for most hunger relief agencies in central Indiana.
- Gleaners serves over 350 hunger relief agencies in 21 central and southeastern Indiana counties.
- In Gleaners' service area, there are over 319,450 who are food insecure, over 103,800 of them are children under 18.
- On a yearly basis, 160,900 different people rely on food through the Gleaners network, over half of these are children and the elderly.
- Since 1980, Gleaners has distributed over 320 million meals.
Please bring in non-perishable food items including:
hearty soups, spices, salt, pepper, canned fruit.

If our students bring in 600 items then we will have a pajama day!!

Resources are available to families who might be experiencing any of the following situations:

Each bag contains story books, activity books, parenting books, and games on the specified topic. If you would like to check out a bag for two weeks please contact Pam Larkey at 852-3126 Ext. 2819.
Social Health Program

Parents of 4th and 5th Grade Students - Each 4th and 5th grade student will participate in a Social Health Program during the month of March.  This program outlines the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty.  Students will be shown appropriate films for their age group followed by a question and answer period.  Parents are invited to preview these films at the Administration Office located at 310 Stadium Drive (Please enter through Door #7 on the back side of the building) on Tuesday, February 21 at 6:30 pm.  The preview will be facilitated by Assistant Superintendent Kat Jessup and Health Services Supervisor Melissa Smith.  If you have questions about the content of these films, please contact your child's school nurse.

GENERAL MEETING - Join us Tuesday, February 14th to celebrate your love for WLE PTO!!! Our meeting location is going to be at El Toro Mexican Restaurant (1008 E Main St). Our General PTO meetings are at 6:30pm.
 
DINE TO DONATE - Thank you to all who supported our Chick-fil-A Dine to Donate, we raised $250 from that event! Don't forget to order Marco's Pizza on February 8th, March 8th, April 12th and May 10th. For more information contact Elizabeth Spice ( espice0308@yahoo.com ).
 
Valentine Parties - It is time for our Valentine Celebration! The party will be held on Friday, February 17th from 2:40pm until 3:25pm. Only volunteers who turn in the RSVP form or get in touch with their Room Parent will be allowed to attend the party. All volunteers must have a valid BCSC background check on file and are asked to make arrangements for younger siblings. In addition, to follow BCSC guidelines, we are asked not to send in Valentines that contain candy/food items, even if to be sent home. Skating Party - Save the date for WLE PTO Night at Hot Skates in Avon on March 8th! Cost is $5 per skater and $2 comes back to WLE PTO! Flyers will be sent home closer to the date! For more information contact Lexie Estes ( lexie.wlpsg@gmail.com ).
 
Spirit Store - We are looking for volunteers to help us sell our Spirit Store items at the following events - Friday, February 17th at the Class Parties from 2:00-2:30pm, Friday, February 24th at the Juggling Masters Performance at West Middle School from 5:30-8:30pm and Thursday, March 16th at the 1st & 2nd Grade Music Performances from 5:30-8:30pm. Please contact Melissa Rutemoller ( melissa@rutemoeller.com ) for more information and to sign up for one of these events. Our Spirit Store sales benefit the PTO and allow us to provide funds to support our school and cover costs for all student field trips.
 
Box tops for education - Get clipping, our next Box Tops for Education Contest will be February 10th - 17th! Make sure to check the expiration date and ask friends and family to save them for you too! Those tiny tops add up to big bucks, our Fall Contest brought us $1,500!! Create a customized calendar for your family with My Dynacal.  You can sign up with an e-mail address and a password and then select the events (including individual sporting events) that you would like to see in your family's calendar.  Create a name for the calendar and then Click "iCal Subscription" to generate a link that can be imported into your own Outlook or iCal.
