Join us at the Farmington Public Library for a celebration of the iconic author and illustrator Maurice Sendak, presented by the Farmington Public Library Foundation.

The Maurice Sendak Memorial Exhibition is a retrospective of original works by Maurice Sendak. The collection has been touring since 2013, the 50th anniversary of the publication of Where the Wild Things Are. 

This collection is exclusive to one location in each state, and the Farmington Public Library is the only place in New Mexico where you will be able to see these rare and exclusive works by Maurice Sendak.

Ali: A Life – by Jonathan Eig

Wow, this was a great book. I have read one other biography about Ali, but this one is way more comprehensive (never dull). I am surprised that the number of ratings are so low - perhaps it is because it is fairly new. It is certainly underrated for how good it is. 

So much to unpack with this one. I could never write a proper review that would give justice to Ali's life, but I can say this book is worth reading. If you enjoy biographies, enjoy sports or the 60s, this one should be on your short list. He shook up the world after all! Read it.

Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats – by T.S. Eliot

A quirky, charming, and whimsical collection of poems. Elliot’s playfully proper tone will leave you to ponder the double life cats lead. It’s a must read for all cat-lovers. The collection is thin, and is therefore a quick read, but you’ll want to keep it a few days more to read again and again. Each poem focuses on a cat and its respective lifestyle, characteristics, and eccentricities. The poems feature characters such as Gumbie Cat, Growltiger, Rum Tug Tugger, and Skimbleshanks who are all loveable felines. I was able to look at my own cat with new light and wonder.

The Fall of Lucifer – by Wendy Alec

The book was a great read. Very detailed description. The book is about how Lucifer wanted to take over in the first heaven. Christ banished him out of heaven along with his followers. Lucifer's plan is to take control of all mankind and while I was reading to book, it kept me engaged. Great book!

Ready Player One – by Ernest Cline

Fantastic book. Full of fun pop culture references from 80s, films, video games, and music. Written inside: "You don't need to play video games to love this book," and it's true. Enjoying it from beginning to end.
