Thompson's Text
Woodmont Baptist Church held a surprise note burning on September 11, 2016. Due to a substantial gift the Worship Center loan was paid off the next day. Woodmont celebrated this important milestone by singing "To God Be the Glory" as a copy of the mortgage note was burned and a prayer of thanksgiving for faithful giving and sacrifices made over the years and for what the Lord had done. Reese's Pieces
"Just wait till you meet Becky!" I heard those words over and over again from search committee and staff members when I was first "in talks" with Woodmont, way back in 2002. I kept thinking, "Golly, this Becky must really be something special."
Once on the field, it did not take long for me to find out why everyone thought a new minister of music would be so delighted to have Becky Foster at his right hand. Over the last 14+ years, I have arrived at the conclusion that EVERY minister of music needs a Becky Foster!
It has been a blessing beyond words to collaborate, co-create, and conspire (See Singin' With The Saints) with such a gifted and generous musician. We are a team, partners in musical crime, and also really good friends. I have had the privilege of working with some amazing, talented, creative people in my lifetime, but I have never before had a working relationship that was such a good "fit" on every level. There are a few things upon which we disagree, but not many. She is also a good mind-reader (she says she has to be, working with me, but that's nonsense) which is very helpful and a little creepy.
Becky is celebrating her 25th anniversary of employment at Woodmont Baptist Church, and I would like to invite you to join me in celebrating her tremendous ministry as our pianist and orchestra director on Sunday, October 9, following the evening service. Romans 13:7 instructs us to give honor to the one whom honor is due. I can't think of anyone more deserving. How grateful I am to the Father for divinely guiding Becky and Jerry Foster to our church twenty-five years ago and for the merging of their path with ours. It has been a harmonious journey thus far. To God be the glory!
Kevin

We are still collecting items for flood
victims.
Here is a message we received on Facebook from one of the victims expressing his gratitude.
Let me tell you about my day and you can take it how you please. Please read if you do not mind. Today as many days, after the flooding here in Louisiana, which left my kids, Melissia, and myself out of our comfort zone, I plan my day on how I am going to be able to support my family. This usually includes finding supplies and food we need to get by for either that day or for the next few days because we are down to only one vehicle. Well today, I planned on going to the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries here in Baton Rouge which was supposed to be open today and then going to the house to retrieve some pictures and paperwork that may be able but salvage. Well, after arriving at the Swaggart Ministries, there was not a sole in sight and they were closed, so I decided to pull off to the edge of the road to regroup and plan another location. While we sat there, about 4 vehicles pulled up including a truck pulling a trailer, all loaded down with supplies from Tennessee and Alabama and they had the same understanding and information that they were open today. We then realized, they just made this trip today just for delivering supplies and heading back. We informed them that not only we needed supplies but the two hotels, one that include our are in great need. Most of these people have lost all means of transportation, as I know this because our family brings hot plates as we can and supplies when we are able to pass along. They followed us to the hotel and I know these giving people took out everything they brought and went from just dropping off to handing out to everyone in need. I say more than 100 people and families. I cannot thank you enough and your kindness and sharing was greatly appreciated. They about emptied everything that they brought and what they didn't, I stored the rest to pass along so that they didn't take anything back. This act of kindness is one of many and myself knowing the story that brought them from Tennessee and Alabama went from a road trip and drop off to a hands on relief aid and support group. The testimony they have now is enormous and what they did today was even greater. Thank you all again and I can say from my family to yours, we have new friends for life. I wish I had all the names but I do not. I will continue to post more about these families or feel free to tag if you know them.
