Coming Soon to Woodmont Baptist
Preschool and Children Electronic Check System - The Children's Ministry Team has been working very hard to enhance and improve our nursery and children's area in the coming days. We plan to launch a new electronic check in system in the fall that will assist in security, make labels, and easily find contact information of parents and more.
Disaster Relief - 26 Foot Shower and Laundry Trailer - We will soon obtain a specially designed trailer from the Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief ministry that can be utilized for Woodmont Baptist Church and Associational needs. This trailer has 3 showers and a washer and dryer. The unit needs some updating but will be able to help this fall with the Room at the Inn Ministry at the East Campus. The trailer has been donated to the association but will be housed in our East Campus pavilion and available for church use when needed. Praise the Lord!
New Fall Schedule to kick off on Sunday, August 21 - Our new fall schedule for Sunday and Wednesday nights begins August 21 with AWANA moving to Sunday nights and adding an older preschoolers class (The Cubbies) to this program. New and innovative Discipleship Training classes are being planned as well as a children's choir for 1
st through 6
th graders to begin on Wednesday night along with our Mission Friends. Mission Friends also includes some music and singing for our preschoolers.
Video Taping and Live Streaming of our Worship Services - A high resolution remote controlled camera will be installed in the worship center soon that will allow us to:
- Observe and monitor the worship services and see the choir and pulpit areas for our security team.
- We will be able to live stream our services on-line for our members who are out of town or cannot be at our service allowing for members to stay connected to Woodmont and worship at Woodmont.
- Services will be recorded and made available on-line for viewing whenever it is convenient to our members and the community.
Additional Security Cameras - Our security team will have additional cameras added to their system in the coming weeks that will greatly enhance our ability to monitor our worship center and parking lot areas.

Did you know that August is "Grow The Choir" month?!?! We in the Woodmont Choir suspect that there are brothers and sisters among us hiding their talent somewhere out there in the pews. You need to know we are on to you. If singing is your thing (even mildly so) there is a place for you in our friendly and fun-loving, wacky and wonderful, merry, musical family.
And because Grow The Choir Month just happens to coincide with Tattletale Month, someone may have already snitched on you, in which case you may be getting a call or visit very soon from some very persuasive people. My advice to you is, Just do whatever they say.
It is, after all, a really great time to join the choir. I can think of a number of reasons right off the top of my head: 1) Summer is rapidly coming to an end, and the wayward prodigals are starting to amble back from the beach; 2) We are just getting started on this year's Singin' With The Saints; 3) I'm introducing the music for our Christmas concert at next Wednesday night's rehearsal; 4) The annual choir fellowship is coming up, and those party animals know how to have fun; and, finally, 5) Weren't you paying attention? AUGUST IS GROW THE CHOIR MONTH!! So, give joining the choir some careful consideration. Make it a matter of prayer. And don't hide your talent! If you don't use it, you could lose it.
In other news, Kids' Choir is back! Don't miss the kickoff Wednesday, September 7. Help us make this program succeed by sending us your kids and grand-kids and/or by volunteering to help. Just let me know if you'd like to be a part of the team.
Have a great rest of your summer, and if you get tattled on, maybe I'll be seeing you.

Families have always been a burden on my heart, with that being said, we will have Family Fun Night the 21st of August. It doesn't matter if you are a family that is single or a family of senior adults, we want you here. It will be at the East Campus from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm we will have a free hot dog supper, chips, and a giant water slide. We are asking for our sweet members to bring homemade ice cream to share. This is a time where some of us older members can mentor some of the younger families. We will have a short devotion and talk from some of our community leaders. I hope to see you there because the next morning I start my journey with chemotherapy again, lets make this a huge success.
BABY SHOWER "CHRISTMAS IN JULY" FOR OUR NURSERY. We are in need of new toys for our nursery area and we have set up a registry at Walmart for the items needed. Go online to
Walmart.com
for our nursery wish list of items needed. We will continue to add and update the registry. A list of items from LifeWay is also available in the church office. We are requesting new toys only (Walmart registry or LifeWay), gift cards or a designated monetary gift to purchase toys. Will be collecting items though August 7. A table is set up in the Worship Center Lobby to leave nursery and preschool gifts. Thank you!

Game Day will be Thursdays, August 4 and 25, bring a finger food and join us at 12:30 at the East Campus and enjoy a day of games in a nice cool room with nice friendly people.
The monthly luncheon will be Thursday, August 18. Our speaker will be Sergio, he is an artist and illustrator. As a child he made many of his toys out of things he found that had been discarded. He will share some of these, tell his story, and display some of his art work. You will enjoy meeting Sergio. This will be a potluck so bring a dish to share and join us for an enjoyable time. Sign up in the breezeway so we will have enough tables set up. We will meet at East Campus for our luncheon.
