The Holiday Countdown Begins!

It’s officially that time of year! Christmas is 40 days away, Hanukkah is just 28, and Kwanzaa is 41 … but who is counting?! The winter elves at Cornerstones of Care are working hard to make this holiday season one to remember, but we need your help.

There are 5,000 children and families relying on us to experience the magic and wonder of the season through the Cornerstones of Care Gift Gallery, which is held the second week of December. If you can, please consider donating new, unused items for babies, children, teens and adults. This long-standing holiday tradition helps ensure that every family member has a gift to open during the holiday season!

Meet the Willoughbys
After 20 years as foster parents, Stacy and Tom Willoughby know the difference a home environment can make in a child’s life.

“I used to work in a behavioral hospital, and there were a lot of children who were there that really needed families, and out of the institutional environment. I found therapeutic foster care as a way to get children back into families and homes,” says Stacy. Now, as therapeutic foster parents, they’re giving youth a chance to become a part of a family and a community.
We have a critical need for 105 therapeutic foster parents in this community! Join us for a one-hour information session to learn more about how you can become a part of the foster care community.
Understanding Conflict
Do you ever find yourself in a seemingly never-ending conflict with a significant other or family member? You’re both tired of having the same disagreement, and it never seems to get resolved. Maybe that’s because of the roles you each play in the argument. Welcome to the Trauma Triangle. Being in the Trauma Triangle only creates more drama. That’s why we work every day with youth and families to re-script the Trauma Triangle in an effort to find a better way of dealing with conflict without relying on behaviors that are detrimental to resolving the conflict in positive way.
