Apparently there are devious business owners out in the world who, rather than focus on the success of their own business and clients, choose to engage in digital attacks in an attempt to damage the competition.

Someone jealous of our high Google ranking did just that back in mid-Spring when we first learned our highly ranked www.iresinc.com website ... consistently ranked among top 10-20 retained search results under Google for various relevant retained search terms for nearly ten years ... had disappeared from key Google searches altogether.

While vanishing from Google rankings affects only new business clients trying to find us for the first time, IRES was having its busiest first, second and third quarter with a near-maximum capacity commitment from prior clients despite this surprise.

The good news is that Google has restored our ranking just this week, after hiring an expert to reverse the damage. We'd like to also let the individual know (should he be reading this which is a possibility) IRES had a record year of results despite this failed attempt.

In the process we became unexpected experts on a procedure known as a "spam link attack" designed to confuse Google's ranking system. Fortunately we are abundantly successful to never have any interest in doing this type of attack to anyone else.

If you are the owner of a website that has experienced a sudden drop in search engine ranking ... or disappeared completely ... contact me privately what we've learned about "ahref" attacks and would be happy to share some tips.

May the rest of your 2014 be prosperous.

Sincerely,
Frank G. Risalvato, CPC

Having a Search Timeline
and plan of action ...

One of the first things any executive should think of when recruiting for a new or replacement management hire is the ideal date of hire (EDH Estimated Date of Hire).

This is important as the entire recruiting strategy is worked out moving back from this goal line.

Here are some common timelines for various positions/salary price-points:
  • $60K annual and below <= 40 days
  • $65K - $100K = 45-60 days
  • $100K - $175K = 90-120 days
  • Above $150K to $500K = 4 months to 1 year or more
Type of position also plays a role in the anticipated time frame required. The more rare the talent pool, complex the position (requiring relocation to an underpopulated area) the more this impacts the timeline. Conversely if the position is a higher salary but fairly routine the lower range of the anticipated time frame can be expected.

A company that has no planned "date of hire" telegraphs it is willing to go an indefinite time and these type of situations are not conducive to getting a recruiting firm willing to assist.
