Every day, I am honored to serve among some of the most talented, dedicated people in the state of Colorado. I am thankful to be in a position to lead an organization with such a powerful mission: working together to provide diverse services that safeguard the public and build resilient communities.
I know that each and every one of you takes pride in the important ways you contribute to this mission on a daily basis, and that you care deeply about doing the very best you can every day to protect the people in our great state.
I'm pleased to announce that we are launching this monthly e-newsletter and a new CDPS blog as tools to connect you to the broader mission and accomplishments of our entire department through news, information, kudos, tips, training and more. I hope you will take a few minutes to read these stories to learn more about the amazing work of your colleagues, celebrate our successes, and access tools and training to grow in your career and leadership skills.

New Badges Rolling Out
CDPS is in the process of rolling out new ID badges that offer a variety of benefits, including better integration with partner agencies and quicker access to critical information during emergencies.

CDPS Responds to July Wildfires
Numerous Public Safety employees mobilized in response to multiple wildfires that flared up throughout the state in July.
Troopers were among the first to report the Cold Springs Fire outside of Nederland and assisted with road closures for several fires. Fire Prevention and Control quickly mobilized Multi-Mission Aircraft to map and provide critical information about the fires. CSP Workers Receive Recognition for Heroism
On July 22, six Colorado State Patrol workers who put their lives at risk in order to protect the safety of the public were recognized for their heroism.
Citizens Appreciate State Toopers (C.A.S.T.) awards were presented to Troopers Gregory James, Clinton Rushing, Dwayne Massner and Derek Pollard, and to Communications employee Stephanie Chataignier. Trooper Jaimie Jursevics, who gave her life in the line of duty last year, was also honored with an award that was accepted on her behalf by her husband, DJ Jursevics.

Get Ready for New Online Timekeeping System
This fall, CDPS will be rolling out a new online system that all employees will use to record and track their hours and leave.
This electronic timekeeping system is the first step in a migration to a new, statewide Human Resource Information System being implemented by DPA. The timekeeping system will integrate with payroll and provide data and reporting capabilities not possible with our current technology. Additionally, it will provide you with access to real-time, accurate information.

On July 7, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation celebrated the excellent work of its teams over the past year, honored employees for distinguished service, and recognized outstanding employees of the year.

DFPC Moves from Scan-Tron to Right On!
Until last year, firefighters completing certification tests through the Division of Fire Prevention and Control used to have to fill out Scan-tron bubbles using a No. 2 pencil and mail in their tests.
A major overhaul completed by DFPC has implemented electronic testing and tracking that is saving firefighters and their admins huge amounts of time and effort.

Marilyn Gally Named Director of Office of Emergency Management
On July 19, Marilyn Gally was named Director of the Office of Emergency Management. Galley began her career with the state of Colorado 19 years ago and has worked in the Office of Emergency Management since 1999.
