Administrative Address

Dear AVA Community,

It is hard to believe there are less than 30 days of school left! On behalf of the AVA Foundation, thank you for another AMAZING school year! For those that may still be wondering what the AVA Foundation does….the AVA Foundation operates just like a traditional PTO. In fact, we will be making a name change!

As the AVA Foundation finishes this year and prepares to kick off next year, you will notice a name change – we will rename ourselves to the AVA Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Our focus will not change; we will continue fundraising and event planning with a focus on community outreach; the only change will be in our name. Why the name change? After much discussion with the AVA Administration, The Board of Directors, and our Parent Community, it was clear that there was still uncertainty about the purpose of the Foundation, but most understand the purpose of a PTO.

The AVA Foundation/PTO has an action packed last few weeks of school!!!

AVA’s first ever 5K/Fun Run, taking place Saturday, April 28 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm at AVA. This is a fun family/community event. For additional information and registration click here.
Our 2018 Golf Tournament at Plum Creek Golf Course on Friday, May 11 – register here. This will be a HUGE day & night for the AVA community; the event includes a fun day of golf and/or dinner, followed by an auction and live music by Castle Rock’s own Sal Mancini. This year, we are raising money to upgrade technology at AVA: some of our classrooms need new tablets, and staff computers need to be upgraded. Please join us – your participation will have a direct impact on AVA’s Technology to raise funds to provide new technology!
Finally, we will also host the End of the Year Celebration. This year’s celebration is set for Friday, May 18, starting at 5:00 pm. This is a family event; feel free to bring a picnic dinner or enjoy food from one of the food trucks. Mac N Noodles, Lante Brau-Casa, and Rita’s Italian Ice are all scheduled to be at the celebration. Additionally, we have partnered with the AVA Student Senate who will be planning additional games and activities this year, in addition to the bounce houses/obstacle course.

As the Foundation/PTO finishes this year and plans for next, please consider getting involved with the AVA Foundation/PTO. We have some amazing plans for next year but need your help to make them happen! Checkout available volunteer opportunities here.

Announcements

K-5 Author Visit and Weather Demonstration

Diana Perry will be here on Tuesday, April 17th to do a weather demonstration for our K-5 students. Mrs. Perry has written three books ( The Snake that Could Bake, The Weather by Heather, and Andres – Mighty Maya Warrior) and has traveled around the country doing exciting science experiments with elementary students. Please check your Thursday folder this afternoon for a form on which you can order one or all of her books at the low price of $10 each. Your budding scientist will love the home experiments found inside!

Stop by SmashBurger from 4pm-8pm on Wednesday, April 18th. $1 from every entree sold will be donated to AVA. Click here for the flyer (flyer not required).

Board Election Update

The AVA Board would like to announce that one individual has requested to be considered for the opening for Board seat #3. Because multiple nomination forms were not submitted, a formal voting process will not be necessary. The AVA Board will review the nomination during the April 12, 2018 Board meeting and will have a formal announcement to present in next week’s newsletter.

AVA Family 5k

Reminder: Saturday, April 28. The AVA Hawaiian themed family 5k and fun run/walk. Beginning at 10:30 am, there will be a fun run/walk and immediately following at 11:00 am the 5k starts. The price is $20 per person for the 5k, $5 for Fun Run, or $50 for families. This will be a walk/run- please NO STROLLERS OR DOGS. There will be food trucks, DJ, bounce houses, Rita’s Italian Ice, and PRIZES! All are invited, so invite family, neighbors, and friends. Bib pick up is race day at 9:30.

Please REGISTER HERE but hurry, registration deadline is Wednesday April 25th at noon then prices go up!

Golf Tournament

Save the date: Friday May 11, the AVA Foundation is excited to bring a day of golf and/ or a night out to our AVA Families. If you are a golfer, take the day off, gather your favorite golfing foursome and tee up to support AVA! If you can’t make the tournament, you can still enjoy a nice night out for dinner and an auction. Spots are filling up fast, so hurry to secure yours here.
