Dear AVA Community,

With the conclusion of the school year fast approaching, we become eager for the fun days that summer will bring. Spring is in the air, the weather is warming, the days are growing longer, and it is easy to feel a bit restless. Each year around this time I like to share a simple message. “Finish Strong”.

Like an athlete toward the end of the game, it is natural to feel worn out and look forward to the upcoming (and well-deserved) rest, but we are not there yet. The end of the game is often when players dig deep and find their inner strength. The final minutes are when we often need to give our greatest effort, our purest performance. This can be the difference between a hard-fought victory and a casual defeat. I am sure that many of our learners (and their parents) are ready for some rest and relaxation, but now is the time to push even harder. Let’s double down on our effort and finish strong. This is the message I share with students and the example I try to provide. Let’s work together and encourage our students (and each other) to put forth the greatest effort possible for the next five weeks so that when we finish we can take a deep breath of relief and enjoy a wonderful summer filled with fun adventures, relaxation, and some well-deserved rest.

Sincerely,
Bruce Gordon
Middle School Assistant Principal
