Student & Staff Spotlight
Lia has been a student at Pathway for 10 years and will be graduating in May of 2018. Over the years Lia has become an excellent typist, creative artist, leader in Student Council and has performed numerous times with The Pathway Players as a narrator, evil stepsister and multiple fairies. In performances such as, The Pathway Musical Revue, My Son Pinocchio, Cinderella and many others she has always been a star presence whether she was in the lead role or a supporting player. Drama coach, Pete Pryor says “Lia’s smile, intelligence and tremendous generosity make her one the best performers that has graced our stage.”

Lia enjoys researching history and developing power point presentations. Given her love of history and theater, it is not surprising her favorite musical is 1776 . She is always prepared for class and puts forth her best effort.

Lia has gained work experience while at Pathway, having the opportunity to work at Shannondell and Boscov’s Department Store. She is exclusively at Boscov’s this academic year, performing tasks such as unpacking and hanging clothing in various departments. Lia follows directions efficiently and is able to work independently. Her job coach reports “Lia is a joy to work with”.

We are so proud of Lia and her accomplishments. We are confident she will find success wherever her journey takes her after Pathway!
Mr. John Stewart has been a Pathway employee for 21 years. During this time he has worked in Admissions, HR, Finance and now the Education Department. All of this experience has led him to be a “Jack of all Trades”. As the Education Office Administrative Assistant, Mr. Stewart organizes special events, such as “Back to School Night”, handles the purchase orders for educational materials, schedules IEP Meetings with LEA representatives, notifies all districts of weekly attendance, keeps the calendar and homeroom listing up to date, sends progress reports and report cards to parents, and is the main point of contact for all student transportation. He handles daily bussing issues that may arise during those busy arrival and dismissal hours.

Mr. Stewart, we thank you for your years of service and dedication to our students!
PJM Volunteer Day

For the second time during this school year, the employees from PJM Interconnection dedicated their work day to improving our campus. On Monday, October 23rd approximately 30 volunteers arrived at 9:00 a.m. ready to work. Landscaping was completed, vans detailed and a fresh coat of paint applied to the cafeteria and hallways in our Student Activity & Learning Center. Because of their dedication and hard work, our students have a sense of community good will and a beautiful campus. Thank you PJM for your commitment of time and energy to our school.

The rain did not dampen spirits and everyone celebrated as prizes and medals were awarded to the first place male and female in six age categories. The overall winner of the race was 31 year old, Rich Ryan.

Pathway Participates in Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends Event

For the past 21 years Boscov’s has hosted a Friends Helping Friends event and on October 17 th the 25% discount shopping pass was again offered to customers purchasing the pass for a $5 donation to participating non-profit organizations. Pathway sold passes leading up to the event and had the opportunity to sell at the Boscov’s store in Plymouth Meeting on October 17 th , while educating customers about The Pathway School and our amazing students.

Boscov’s has been a supportive community partner over the years and is one of 18 businesses offering the opportunity for our students to gain on the job work experience. We look forward to continuing this relationship for years to come.
Former Flyers Stanley Cup Champion and Current Sports Broadcaster, Bill Clement Spends the Day at Pathway

Bill Clement was introduced to The Pathway School three years ago and has been volunteering his time and energy since then. Most recently, on October 26 th  he visited the school spending time in the Early Learning Classroom, followed by a delicious lunch at Pathway’s Hot Spot Café, where students prepared and served the meal. After lunch Mr. Clement joined the sports club for a fast paced game of floor hockey, where a few students managed to score against him!  As he was about to leave, Pathway’s film club insisted that a video would be a great way to capture this celebrity moment. Joe, a student in the Lower School, interviewed like any news anchor, as several others in the club were filming. This video will be featured in a future “Pathway Today” episode…stay tuned!

Thank you Mr. Clement for volunteering your time and creating an amazing day our staff and students will never forget!
