What's All the Lower School Bee Buzz About?
We are pleased to announce that our 2021-2022 Lower School Spelling Bee will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Students in grades 4-6 will participate in a qualifying round prior to this during class, as has been done in the past. The top nine from each grade level will participate on Jan. 18th in our Lower School Bee which will be held in the church sanctuary immediately following our regular chapel service.
There will not be a county spelling bee this year. Instead, school winners will participate in an online narrowing process. The top 50 spellers from across nine counties will advance to the Orlando Regional Spelling Bee.
If your student is selected to participate in our Lower School Bee, they will receive a list of words to study before we leave for Christmas break.

Christmas in a Pack is Back!
Those who are homeless in Brevard County got a taste of Christmas last year as the “Christmas in a Pack” program brought them more than 300 new backpacks filled with essentials such as blankets, sweatshirts, sleeping bags, socks, gloves, refillable water bottles, and more.
The Lower School has participated for 15 consecutive years and has contributed an estimated 400+ filled backpacks since joining the cause. Last year, students were able to fill 35 backpacks and this year, they intend to do the same. Here is what you can do to help:
Information about items needed to fill the backpacks have been distributed to homeroom teachers.
The last day to receive items for the backpacks will be Monday, December 6th.
The ceremony for blessing these backpacks for the homeless are as follows:
-
Wednesday, December 8th – Grades 4 - 6 (8:15am – 9:00am)
-
Wednesday, December 8th – Grades 1 - 3 (9:45am – 10:30am)
- Early Childhood will not be having a service this year. Due to COVID safeguarding practices by our Health & Safety Task Force, the ceremony will be open to students, faculty, and staff only.
For questions or additional information, please contact Chaplain Garcia at the Lower School.

Tuesday, Dec. 14-17th is mid-term exams for both Junior and Senior High students.
|
|
Mid-terms are Coming!
Mid-term exams for both Junior and Senior High students will take place December 14-17th. Teachers are still teaching and assigning work through the start of exams. There will be no new content, however, after December 8th. Please be sure to help your student stay up to date with ALL assignments. It is difficult to prepare for exams if a student is distracted by missing and/or late work.
Weight of Exams: While exams can seem daunting, they are not the only thing that will determine the outcome of the final semester grades. For Junior High classes, semester exams count for 1/7 of the semester grade. For classes in which a high school credit is earned (i.e. Algebra 1 Honors) the exams count for 1/5 of the semester grade. Please speak with your child/children about the importance of studying and being prepared for exams, but not to get stressed out about them.
Mid-term Exams Schedule:
Tues - Dec. 14th
- Period 1 exam (8:00-10:00 AM)
- Period 2 exam (10:20 AM-12:20 PM)
- Dismissal at 12:20 PM
Wed - Dec. 15th
- Period 3 exam (8:00-10:00 AM)
- Period 4 exam (10:20 AM-12:20 PM)
