Representing Rhode Island on a National Level
As Chair of the National Lt. Governors Association (NLGA), I was proud to represent Rhode Island at the NLGA Annual Federal-State Relations Meeting in Washington D.C.

I joined lieutenant governors from across the nation to discuss regulatory reform, education and infrastructure plans. We also had the opportunity to engage members of the new administration and to hear from RI's very own U.S. Congressman Jim Langevin.

I am also proud to announce that the NLGA passed a resolution I co-sponsored in support of a State Military and Veterans Arts Initiative. I plan to bring this program to Rhode Island!
Listening to our Small Businesses

My office teamed up with the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce to host the 2nd televised small business forum at Venue 131 in Cumberland.

We were joined by 5 panelists for a discussion on legislative and regulatory issues that impact our state's small business community.

Panelists included: Eric Anderson of Enviro-Clean in Smithfield, Jeanne Pepin Budnick of Pepin Lumber in Woonsocket, Sennen Conte of Gerbs in Johnston, Nick Garrison of Foolproof Brewing in Pawtucket and Dr. Mary Ann Shallcross Smith of Dr. Day Care Learning Center located in 8 Rhode Island communities.

Check out what The Pawtucket Times had to say about the event.

Getting Out in the Community - South Kingstown
As part of my mission to spend time in each of Rhode Island's 39 cities and towns, I spent an afternoon visiting small businesses in South Kingstown with Rob Sullivan from the Southern Rhode Island Young Professionals.

I met with the owners of four thriving local businesses: The 401 Studio, Whalers Brewing Company, Rock Spot Climbing and Sons of Liberty Spirits Co. It was a great opportunity to discuss issues ranging from paid sick leave to tax exemptions for manufacturing equipment. I look forward to bringing what I learned back to the Rhode Island Small Business Advocacy Council in June.
