Recap: NJ Impact Economy Gathering
Fall 2017
On Friday, November 17, 2017, the Support Center hosted the fourth NJ Impact Economy Gathering at the Livingston Campus of Rutgers Business School, in conjunction with the NJ Office of Faith Based Initiatives and Rutgers Business School. The Gathering brought together a large community of people who are passionate about the burgeoning social impact economy in New Jersey. The audience included a diverse range of nonprofit leaders, social entrepreneurs, capacity builders, grantmakers, lenders, impact investors, academics, and city and state government officials. Social enterprise presenter's included: Ironbound USA , Little Kids Rock , Arm in Arm , The Senior Residence and Rutgers MBS Capstone Student Groups . The afternoon concluded with a panel discussion with the following speakers: Camila Pazos from Echoing Green , Nell Derick Debevoise from Inspiring Capital and Justin Goldbach from The J.M.K. How to Proactively Navigate Risk, Opportunity & Uncertainty
Over the course of the past year in addition to sharing updates about our respective organizations and looking for more opportunities to collaborate, the Ahead of the Curve Coalition also talked a lot about risk. We’ve spoken about language and whether terms such as “risk management” make talking about risk less appealing. We’ve talked about the many facets of risk ranging from funding to staffing to advocacy and fundraising and who in an organization is responsible for monitoring risk. And if talking about language and accountability is this complicated, how do we actually do the work?

One thing I can't live without is my car, it's my source of transportation and I worked really hard to purchase it.

In my spare time, I like to play video games that range from sports, horror, and action genres.

You're a new addition to the crayon box, what color would you be and why?
I would be the color red. Not only is it my favorite color but red represents power and courage. For me, knowledge is power and talking to others is courageous, these are two qualities that I have learned to get comfortable with throughout college.
