The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) in collaboration with Jubilee Arts produced
Art@Work: Upton, a five-week apprenticeship which
employed dozens of Upton-area youth enrolled in YouthWorks to create murals and mosaics in their community working alongside professional artists.
In addition, the youth artists participated in professional development and skill-building workshops led by various local organizations. Each team was led through the entire mural making process, from canvassing community residents for design inspiration, to public design presentations, to conducting trolley tours of their finished projects.
Art @ Work: Upton is made possible through the generous support of The Abell Foundation, France Merrick Foundation, The Morton K and Jane Blaustein Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, Youth Works, Maryland Business Recovery Storefront Improvement Program of the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, Maryland Department of Commerce, Baltimore Department of Housing Summer Food Service Program, Avenue Market, University of Baltimore, Shake & Bake Family Fun Center and Baltimore City Department of Recreation & Parks.
