Did you know you're saving lives?
You know why you're paddling. But do you know what your fundraising efforts will do?

1 in nine Canadian woman will develop breast cancer in their lifetimes. Tragically, 13 women – 13 of our mothers, daughters, sisters and friends – lose their battle with breast cancer every day.

But there's good news. Thanks to a combination of early detection and advanced treatment options, experts tell us that the five-year survival rate for women with breast cancer that hasn’t spread beyond the breast can be as high as 98.5%.

Early detection saves lives. Your fundraising efforts today will save lives by helping fund new, state-of-the-art mammography machines for the Breast Assessment Centre at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. These machines will be used to perform 8,000 potentially lifesaving mammograms every year. So on behalf of the thousands of women (and men) from across our region who will be screened for this terrible disease, thank you and keep up the great work!

Watch this emotional video of Michelle Thornton, our Festival co-Chair, sharing why it's so important to provide world-class breast cancer care here at home.

How to raise $500 in 5 days

It's hard to believe it, but Festival Day is in less than two weeks! Get your fundraising in ship shape with these tips.

Add your page link to your email signature. Ask for small amounts from many people. Remind them (and yourself!) of whom you're paddling for ... and why.

Need some inspiration? DM Wills is at it again, putting the "fun" in "fundraising" with a plant seedling sale, a staff BBQ lunch and silent auction in support of their team, the Wills Warriors.

Got your own brilliant plan? We'd love to hear about it! Email Meghan at [email protected] with your team's fundraiser details and we'll give them a boost on the Festival's social media pages.

Get your ducks in a row...submit your Team Bio!
Get the introduction your team wants on race day and the chance to be featured in local media! The event emcee will introduce each team before their first paddle. You can make your intro as personal or unique as you like (but keep it family-friendly).

Captains can log into online Team Page, add a photo, and edit the text to customize your  team bio by Friday, June 2 at 5 p.m.

Wrist bands, get your wrist bands
Team Captains: Email [email protected] to arrange pick-up of your team's wrist bands if you have not already picked them up.

Reminder: Each person in the boat listed on the team roster must wear a wrist band. It is the Captain’s responsibility to ensure that only people that have read the safety protocols and signed the waiver form obtain a wristband. Please ensure that paddlers have recorded an emergency contact and phone number that will be valid for race day and is not a number for someone in the same boat.

New location for 2017 practices...

Practices are being held out of Peterborough Marina at Del Crary Park this year. Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their practice time at D-Dock (the dock closest to the parking lot) to hand in their signed waivers, get there PFDs and paddles, and check in with the captain and land staff. A minimum of 12 participants are required.
