A Message from Marilyn

There's No Place Like Home

During March we traveled around the state working various quilt shows and now I can honestly say, "There's no place like home." A big "thank you" goes out to Becky and Susan for the great job they did keeping the shop running in our absence.

So now we're moving on with new classes and some new events planned. We have a Spring Surprise class coming in April and some new gift ideas that we're anxious to show you all. We just received a large shipment of hand dyed wool and wool charms as well as many new bolts of fabric, in both Civil War and brights. .

We know our Northern winter friends will soon be travelling back home for the summer and we thank them for their winter-time patronage. Don't go back too soon, ladies, because that snow up there was pretty deep this year!

Can you believe it - now March is almost gone! We are planning our late spring and summer classes now! Time sure does fly by quickly!

The end of March brings the End of the Month, End of the Bolt Sale. This month it will be Saturday, March 29th and Monday, March 31st. Buy the remaining fabric on the bolt and receive a wonderful 30% discount!

Becky and Susan's Spring Surprise

Becky and Susan are planning some fun! They will be offering in April a very limited class that they promise will put a smile on your face and a hop in your step! It's a quilting event, not just a day of sewing. There will be pre-cut kits offered in either a modern grouping (the modern grouping is full) or a modern civil war grouping....and the pattern will be the surprise! Doesn't that sound intriguing? Both quilt options are from Moda and the fabric lines were just released this month! They are very busy working on their quilts and they can't wait until the Spring Surprise is revealed! If you wish to sign up now, the date is Saturday, April 12. The kits are going to be very limited for each grouping so call and reserve your kit today! When you call, tell us which style kit you wish to reserve.

Remember - there are only kits left in the modern civil war grouping! Call today to reserve your spot!

New Store Hours Have Begun!!!
It has come to our attention that it might be a bit difficult for the quilter that works 9 to 5 to make it to our store within our current business hours. As a result we have decided to stay open until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. We are hoping this will be helpful and will better accommodate our working quilters!

Winter Classes and New Products

Sharon Schamber Turned Edge Machine Applique Supplies

Jan Cunningham's class was a HUGE success! We were as pleased as our students and are working to get her down here again for more classes. What a fabulous teacher Jan is!

We now have in stock the books, Piece by Piece by Sharon Shamber, Sharon's Secret Stabilizer, Synthrapol, Polyester Monofilament thread in smoke and clear, Jan's favorite Titanium Coated Topstitch 70/10 needles, glue tips and glue...

Becky (yes, even Becky!) and Susan loved the technique and can't wait to finish their projects using this wonderful new machine applique method. It won't replace hand applique, but it sure is a great method to have in your wheelhouse!

Beginning and Intermediate Applique with Carol Clarke

This course is designed to teach and refine your needle turn applique techniques. Both beginners and intermediates are welcome. You can choose your own patterns and or use the class samples. This is an ongoing class.

The fee is $20 per class. Class is held from 10 - 2.

Carol has had to cancel her March and April classes due to family health issues and she will be back in May. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Hand Quilting with Diane Hosman

The domestic art of hand quilting is back in vogue and in full swing. More and more people are expressing a desire to finish off their pieced and appliqued quilt tops with beautiful hand stitches. Join us in small classes where you learn the values of fabric, needles, thread, hoops, and thimbles.

You'll also learn how to avoid carpel tunnel syndrome while quilting.

One of the many pleasures of hand quilting is the peacefulness that takes over when the fingers begin to move in a quiet rhythm. Come join us in the resurrection of this gentle art. If you have had any doubts about this hand-craft, please remember we all started with big, uneven stitches, but we had to start somewhere!

Beginning Quilting with Becky Madasz
This class will take you from fabric selection to binding your projects with the beautiful sample shown to the right. This is a four session class with the dates listed below. Cost of all four classes $40 10 - 2:00 Book required. Supply list available at the shop. Monday, April 28th Monday, May 5th Monday, May 12th Monday, May 19th
