When Simone & BJ's single owner passed away, it was heartbreaking for the family that the two of them had nowhere to go. The immediate family already had plenty of pets and didn't have room for two more, so these two lovely family pets came to HSTT.
Because BJ and his mom, Simone, have shared their whole lives, we are looking to place them together as a family*. We understand that bringing home two dogs can seem like a lot, but these two are well-trained, well-behaved, gentle, quiet and loving. Adopting the two of them will not only keep their lives somewhat normal, it will double the love in your life.
Let us tell you a little more about them...
BJ is approximately twelve years young. He is the total package; smart, handsome, athletic and he sure doesn't let his age slow him down! He loves going for hikes, playing at the lake and snuggling in by the fire on a snowy day. So, if you're looking for the ultimate Tahoe pal, BJ will definitely fit the bill.
Simone is thirteen years old and could not be any sweeter. Look into her eyes and you'll see that Simone is pure kindness and love. Because folks may have concerns about Simone's health, as she's an older gal, we asked our vet to give her a thorough examination.
Here is what he found. "As an older dog, Simone has, not surprisingly, some difficulty moving around. She is slow but very capable of getting around. A physical exam suggests that arthritis is not her problem but that a portion of her spinal cord responsible for controlling her rear legs is slowly losing function (a common disease in aging known as degenerative myelopathy.) This is a slowly progressive disease which may lead eventually to rear limb paralysis. The progress is usually slow, over years. It does not appear to be uncomfortable to the dog and mentally Simone can lead a normal life."
BJ and Simone deserve to live out the final years of their lives in a loving home with people who care about them.

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is providing BJ and Simone with a loving, nurturing home, but living in a shelter for an extended period of time takes its toll.
