Last weekend, Linda had the pleasure of being one of eight literary professionals to sit on the Literary Agents Panel at the Spring Big Apple Conference of the International Women's Writers Guild. Hosted at the Scandinavia House on 58 Park Ave in Manhattan, Linda both spoke on Meet the Agents panel and had one-on-one pitch sessions with aspiring authors. Always an interesting event for Linda, this weekend was her fifth time speaking at this event, and she met several up-and-coming authors with great commercial potential.

Stunning Reviews Just In!

Stunning reviews just in for My Isl@am, by Amir Ahmad Nasr. Kirkus Review writes, "Becoming the first Sudanese blogger in English, Nasr challenged long-standing beliefs about a Jewish American conspiracy bent on destroying Islam and embarked on an 'unintended exercise in intellectual and psychological self-empowerment.' Structured wittily around a love affair with Islam, in which doubt is personified as the seductress who urges him to read atheist authors, Nasr's account is straightforward, fluent and full of lively allusions for further readings."

Publishers Weekly also starred My Isl@m, and writes, "The book smoothly follows his journey out of a simplistic understanding of Islam, through rationalism and semi-atheism, towards a conversion to Sufism, the mystical school of Islam. Personal history-particularly his expatriate childhood-is the book's strongest aspect, delivered in Nasr's s casual, conversational tone...Nasr's insight into the world of young Arab bloggers, including many of the activists behind the Arab Spring, makes this a valuable and enjoyable read." My Isl@m will be available June 2013.
