Divine Appointments! 7/8/15

1 Kings 19:19 (KJV)
19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

THIS MAGIC MOMENT!

After I sent out last Sunday's sermon, I responded to a dear brother's post written to me earlier.

I thanked him and then told him of a DIVINE APPOINTMENT I had both filled and provided.

Some of you who are FACEBOOK deprived did not read so I will post it today.

I received the most response from this one post than any other I have written!!!

"ON SECOND THOUGHT!

I have a hard time with holidays after losing so much and yesterday was one of my worst!! I was SO dejected and sad and lonely ALL day!

My day only worsened when I went to Sam's Club late that afternoon and the checkout clerk said to me, "You must live an "exciting life" to be shopping at Sam's on the 4th of July!!

THAT was the icing on the cake for me!!

But when I had pulled in to the parking lot my eye caught sight of a van parking in the handicap space and when I left I saw a man wheeling a young boy to the car.

I watched as this father GENTLY and LOVINGLY scooped the small 12 yr old boy in his arms and placed him in the back seat.

As it so happened I arrived as he was loading the small wheelchair in the back and I inquired about the boy, telling him I also had a handicapped, wheelchair bound child.

His sad eyes reported back to me his son had BONE CANCER and had already lost the left femur bone and now the cancer was in his shoulder.

SUDDENLY my pain was lessened and eased.

Nearly in tears, I asked, "Are you a Christian" to which he quickly replied YES!!!!

I took a few mere minutes and explained Heb. 11 to him and gave him my book.

I/YOU are not ALONE in this world of woe!!

It happened again yesterday!!-A DIVINE APPOINTMENT-but one I can not divulge as it is a confidential encounter with a trusted, hurting friend.

In the above Verse the man/boy? Elisha was simply living his life, plowing his fields.

SUDDENLY, UN-expectantly, Elisha's life was forever changed.

God sent, God DIVINELY APPOINTED His Prophet Elijah to encounter this young farmer and change the course of his life.

As I lay in bed last night, SLEEPLESS AGAIN, I had many hours to contemplate and muse on DIVINE APPOINTMENTS.

WE have all had DIVINE APPOINTMENTS.

Some DIVINE APPOINTMENTS were to alter and bless OUR lives, some DIVINE APPOINTMENTS we were the instrument of God's choice.

The WONDERFUL and AMAZING thing about God and being His follower is that we NEVER know if, when, where and how God will show up!!!

Our Bible is full of DIVINE APPOINTMENTS!!

Hebrews 11:32 (KJV)
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

Saul/Paul on the Damascus Road, the CALLING of each of Jesus' Disciples-do YOU remember how YOU were SAVED?????

Do YOU remember where you were?

HOW did God reach/touch you?

There are moments-SUPERNATURAL MOMENTS-in each of our lives that changed and enhanced our lives and destiny.

There are encounters with individuals that looking back still feel surreal!

WE remember the smallest details like in my story told above.

I vividly remember NOTICING the van and taking mental note of it.

WHY did it attract me prior to my DIVINE APPOINTMENT???

But it did!!??

I remember sitting beside a young man almost 40 years ago and him asking me a simple question, "Do you like to read books?"

My answer changed his life forever, "Yes, but I mainly read the Bible!"

That answer led to his salvation the next morning and 40 years of CLOSE friendship.

I remember phone calls, both made and received-DIVINE APPOINTMENTS!

I remember dashing off a simple, UN-edited letter on plain paper with ho fancy heading.

That letter was written to the late Rev. David Wilkerson, who became a dear friend and confidant, and supporter of this ministry and my family's needs.

I remember a small PRAYER MEETING where I found both Jesus Christ as my PERSONAL Savior and my wife of 42 years-DIVINE APPOINTMENTS!

2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

TODAY, beloved:

"BE READY ALWAYS TO GIVE AN ANSWER TO EVERY MAN THAT ASKETH

YOU A REASON OF THE HOPE THAT IS IN YOU WITH MEEKNESS AND FEAR"

1 Peter 3:15 (KJV)
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

YOU never know IF, WHEN, WHERE OR HOW GOD will show up and SHOW OFF/SHOW OUT on your behalf OR use you as His instrument!!!

BE READY, BE READY, BE READY!!!
