In recognition of Finland's centennial of independence, Cranbrook Art Museum presents   Finland 100: The Cranbrook Connection, an exhibition examining the profound influence this country has had on Cranbrook and the development of the arts in America.

Highlighting the Work of Female Artists

Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour highlighting some of the greatest female artists in our collection. These weekly tours will feature the artwork of Mary Chase Perry Stratton, Maija Grotell, Florence Knoll Bassett, Ray Eames, Loja and Pipsan Saarinen, and more.

Dr. Charles Burant, Professor at University of Michigan's A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Institute, talks with Detroit-based artist   Scott Hocking, who will create art based on Burant's research on computational medicine and bioinformatics.

Museum Makery: Weaving with Margaret Hall
Thursday, March 23 | 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Learn weaving basics using a prepared table loom - including plain weave, tapestry, and various finishing techniques. Participants will leave with an original, woven wall hanging. All experience levels welcome!

Overture to Opera at the Manor  CHG

Experience an evening of opera at Cranbrook House with Michigan Opera Theatre (MOT). Resident artists from MOT Studio will fill the library with the music of operatic favorites by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, and more. Hit a high note with the artists following the performance.
Cranbrook House Docent Training

Help connect visitors from all around the world with Cranbrook House by becoming a docent. Share the story of the Booth family, their vision for Cranbrook, and their passion for the Arts & Crafts movement, as you guide guests through the English Tudor estate.

Discover the rich history and elaborate craftsmanship of Cranbrook House on a guided tour with lunch. Your docent will introduce you to the Booth story, highlighting beautiful furnishings, tapestries, and paintings by world-class artists along the way. 

43rd Annual Maple Festival
Sunday, March 12 | 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
 
Taste maple-themed snacks, learn about the science of maple syrup production, and listen to the story of sugaring in Colonial North America. Craft stations, hands-on table top activities, and self-guided walks to the Sugarin' Hut will also be available.  
Tutankhamun: "Wonderful Things" From The Pharaoh's Tomb

Discover Egypt's celebrated boy king and the legendary contents of the richest archaeological find of all time - the treasures of King Tutankhamun's tomb - through meticulously created replicas of the pharaoh's possessions, along with artifacts from the period surrounding his reign. 

Young Scientists Program Inspires Creativity
Thursdays, March 2-30

Families with children ages 2 through 7 are invited to explore the wonders of the natural world with other Young Scientists to investigate a different topic each week. Every session encourages participants to question, investigate, and learn. Pre-registration is required.

Courtesy of the MASCO Corporation Foundation admission to the Institute of Science is FREE after 5:00 pm the first Friday of every month through June 2017. Observatory and CafĂ© will be open. Tutankhamun exhibit and planetarium shows available at additional charge.    

Boy Scouts of America Presents STEM ADVENTURES

Scout programs for boy and girls at the Institute of Science run through May. Boy Scouts of America Michigan Crossroads Council presents STEM ADVENTURES on Saturday, March 25 with sessions from 8:30 am to 11:00 am and 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
