SUNDAY SERVICE WITH REV. JANICE STEELE. Scripture: Psalm: 106 (TMT); Matthew 28:1-8 (NIV). Music: Service music by the chancel choir presenting selections from Handel. Special thanks
to our own Kristin Burns, guest pianist; Julian Brown, guest violinist; Juliette Javaheri, guest violinist; Nancy Powell, guest oboist, Dave Ross, guest flutist, Cynthia Swenson, guest cellist, Albert Sammons, guest baritone; Kyle Sofman, guest soprano and Wilbur Wong, guest violist, for their gift of music in Sunday morning's worship services. We are grateful to the Choir Lovers' Enhancement Fund ( CLEF) for funding today's special music. We appreciate to those who gave in Iris Moran's memory earlier this year. Iris' family, knowing her love of music, directed a large portion of those donations to CLEF.

APPRECIATION FOR FCC STAFF. Foothills' annual performance review period started April 2, and the HR Board needs comments or suggestions that may be incorporated in feedback to our staff. Has a member of the staff made a difference in your life, brightened an otherwise gray day, lent a helping hand, supported your child, or made you feel very welcome here? Are there opportunities for staff to add or change a program, process, or behavior to enhance your experience at Foothills? Please drop your confidential comments in the box in the courtyard on April 9, 16, 23 or 30, or email them to Devin Utter, HR Board, or mail them to his attention at FCC. Your feedback says, "we care." Our Staff includes: Rev. Janice Steele, Rev.   FORUM BY ANN JONES. Weirdly Other: Demons in Medieval Images of the Last Judgment
is April 23 after church. Today we picture the devil as a red figure with horns, carrying a pitchfork.  Our contemporary devils are sometimes quite cute.  How did medieval people think devils and demons looked?  Certainly, medieval devils often had horns, but colors and other attributes varied.  Since a common depiction of devils and demons is in images of the Last Judgment, we'll concentrate on those. We'll look at depictions of these evil things from the 6th to the 15th century. We'll look at illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, frescoes, and stained glass.  Our devils and demons will range from Ireland to Constantinople. We'll find that they can almost always be classified as "weirdly other."

RELAY 3.0 - A WALK IN THE PARK.  Relay for Life is our fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
The event will be held on June 10 and June 11. Log on to
For more information, please speak with Richard Moll or Nikki Hensley.

The Relay for Life for Los Altos is June 10 and 11 at Cuesta Park from 10 am Saturday, to 10 am Sunday. You are invited to the Golden's home (565 University Avenue) on Saturday, May 20 from 5 - 8 pm to create your own messages of hope to honor a cancer survivor or in memory of one who lost the battle with cancer. We will decorate luminaria bags that will line the pathway through the park. The MaCaJo trio will join us on May 20 to share their wonderful music during the evening. Hearty hors d' oeuvres and drinks will be served and all materials and the bags will be provided. Please let the Goldens know if you think you will attend this event so they will have enough food and the materials needed - sign up in the courtyard or 650/941-8133 or  - if you are unable to attend, you can send the names of those you wish to honor to Jean and we will make luminaria for you - ACS suggests a $10 donation for each luminaria.

SUMMERTIME AND THE MUSIC IS EASY! Do you tickle the ivories, dream of singing outside of the shower, or fondly remember summer campfires strumming your guitar? Or perhaps you know a musician waiting to make their debut. August at FCC is the perfect time to share music with a small, appreciative audience. Whether you are at the beginning or end of your music career, want to contribute a single piece or a full service, perform solo or with others, the Music Board invites you to help us provide music for worship during the choir's vacation in August and the first week of September. For more information, you can contact Fred Cummins or Nikki Hensley or sign up in the courtyard.
