A ROSE ON THE PULPIT Sunday morning announces the birth of Artemis Zoe Drakopoulis on May 8, 2017. Artemis' parents are Heather and John. Proud grand-parents are Don and Mary Alden.

CLARA ROA OF LIFE MOVES, an organization  our Outreach supports, will present on Sunday. She will join us for coffee in the courtyard to continue the conversation about Life Moves.   
CHILDREN'S PROGRAM continues on Sunday. Children and youth age preschool - high school are invited to join their parents for the first part of worship and gather in the front of the Sanctuary for Children's Time. They will then leave with their teachers for the Program in the Learning Center.

                        UPCOMING EVENTS

We have been invited to join with Muslims in our community for Iftar, the meal that breaks the Ramadan fast.  There are two ways we may do this.  There will be a group gathering on June 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Pacifica Institute in Sunnyvale (1257 Tasman Drive, Unit B) for a talk on Islam and Ramadan, dinner, and prayer.  We are also invited to join families for Iftar in their homes.  Pastor Melanie and Zeynep Tulu of Pacifica Institute with match families for these dinners.  Please sign up in the courtyard or contact Pastor Melanie by May 26.  

A CONVERSATION ABOUT SOCIAL JUSTICE AND SPIRITUALITY.  Listening with our Hearts, Praying with our Feet with Karen L. Erlichman, DMin, LCSW is 11:30 a.m., Sunday, June 4, in the Parish Community Hall. In this workshop, we will consider what the interweaving of faith and action can look like for this church community in our divided country. What tools and resources can best guide our hearts, minds and actions? The workshop will include meditation, prayer, dynamic learning,conversation and a simple lunch. Sign up in the courtyard.

CHANGE? OH MY, WHO HAS ENERGY FOR THAT? You are invited to an informal discussion with Rev. Janice Steele on the second Sundays in June, July and August. (June 11, July 9th and August 13th). BBC (Bagels, Brew and Conversation) is an opportunity to have a frank conversation about the identity of FCC. We will meet in the Fireside Room immediately after church. Grab your coffee and come on in. Time to talk about who are we as a church? What is our purpose and mission in the community of Los Altos and surrounding areas? What makes us different from the surrounding churches? What is our collective vision for our future? How do we move from surviving to thriving? How do we communicate our progressive gospel message to a wider audience? What are the advantages and disadvantages with change and doing things differently?    

ARE YOU CREATIVE AND ADVENTUROUS? Does worship appeal to you? Have you imagined dance, spoken word, music and the visual arts as part of the worship experience? You are invited to brain storm ideas for worship. The summer months offer opportunities to explore worship in new and refreshing ways. Contact Rev. ARTS CAMP  is July 31-August 4!  We will explore themes of "Spirit!" through music, movement, cooking, and visual art activities.  Arts Camp is for children age four through entering 6th grade.  Friends welcome!  


YOUTH FELLOWSHIPS: Our Youth Fellowships meet each Sunday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. We are embarking on a new adventure, to try to incorporate special service and fellowship events each month. Youth Fellowship is for youth in 6th-12th grades.  Friends are welcome. Contact Rev. Melanie Weiner for questions.

LECTIONARY BIBLE STUDY meets Tuesdays at 3 p.m. in the Maple Room. Rev. Melanie Weiner facilitates the discussion, focusing on the scriptures that form the theme of the next Sunday's worship and sermon. New participants are always welcome.
TRUTHSEEKERS is reading Walking Home: From Eden to Emmaus by Margaret Guenther.  This book, written by an Episcopal priest is a series of reflections on Bible stories related to walking from Adam and Eve's walk from Eden through two disciples' encounter with the risen Jesus on the road to Emmaus.  Join us on Thursdays from 11-12:15. All are welcome.
