SUNDAY SERVICE WITH THE REV. MELANIE
WEINER.  Sermon: Fake It 'Til you Make It. Scriptures:
1 Kings 19:4-8, Ephesians 4:25-5:2. Music: Samantha Kao, guest violinist. Anthem: Sicilienne Maria-Theresa v Paradis.

ALL ABOUT THE PIPE ORGAN WITH FRED CUMMINS.  Sunday immediately after worship in the Sanctuary. This is a one to one and a-half hour presentation. You will have a better understanding about what Fred does to produce that music we love so much. This is one of the fun raising events you can still sign up. A $15 donation will be appreciated. Talk to Judi Gentry.
 
CHILDREN'S SUMMER PROGRAM.  Children and youth age 3 through 12th grade are invited to join their parents for the first part of worship and gather in the front of the Sanctuary for Children's time.  Preschool and elementary age children will then leave with their teachers for our activity-based summer program, The Miracles of Jesus.  Youth may remain in the sanctuary or assist in the classroom.The program will end at 11:15 a.m.

WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP  will meet at noon on Tuesday, August 14. Bring a bag lunch and join us in the Fireside Room.

SQUARE DANCE WITH NIKKI HENSLEY  is 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 18 in the Parish Community Hall. No partner or experience is needed, just the willingness to get up and move around. This is one of the fun raising events you can sign up to attend in the courtyard Sunday. A $10 donation will be appreciated. Talk to Sandra Overton or Judi Gentry.

YOUTH SERVICE TRIP SUNDAY  is August 19th.  Our worship service will be led by the members who participated in our service trip to Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona.  Please join us as we tell our story and express our gratitude. 

THE SOCIAL JUSTICE STUDY GROUP 
is sponsoring a short presentation by Anna Burns. In this power point presentation which was Anna's 10th grade project titled Prejudice Against LBGT People, Anna discusses the discrimination that the LGBT community faces throughout the United States and what we can do to see it is stopped. You are invited to join us next Sunday, August 19, after the church service, to find out what Anna learned. There will be a time for questions after the presentation.

CPR/AED CLASS   is Sunday, September 9, 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. in the Parish Community Hall. Cost is $35 per person.  Sign up in the courtyard or talk to Katy Waugh.
 
SIGN UP FOR THE SATURDAY OF SERVICE  in the courtyard Sunday!. Don't forget to give us your T-shirt size. Saturday of Service is an intergenerational day of helping our community: 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., September 8. Work sites are Pandemonium, Haven House, Operation Care & Comfort, Village Harvest, Collective Roots, Deer Hollow Farm or  Parish Hall activities. Sign up for the whole family or on your own. INTERESTED IN MEMBERSHIP AT FOOTHILLS?   Sunday, August 26, at 11:30 a.m., in the Maple room, we will hold an Inquirers' Class for people interested in learning more about what it means to be a member of this church and our denomination, the United Church of Christ. This is an opportunity to talk with the minister and lay leaders of the church about how to deepen your walk of faith in this spiritual community called Foothills Congregational Church. Talk to Pastor Chris if you are interested. Childcare will be provided. We are planning on a New Member Sunday on September 9th.

INSTALLATION OF REV. CHRIS BREEDLOVE  is  Sunday, September 16, 2018, Rev. Dr. Chris Breedlove will be officially installed as Senior Minister of Foothills Congregational Church, UCC. The installation will be held during morning worship, 10 a.m., at the church and a reception will follow in the Parish Community Hall. We hope you'll mark your calendar and plan to attend!

ANNOUNCEMENT

EYEGLASSES BOX NEXT TO THE LITTLE WHITE CHURCH  is for collecting unused eyeglasses, lenses, frames and cases for the underprivileged and homeless in the South Bay. This project is to support Amit Reddy, a rising Jr. at Los Altos High School, founder of Glasses4All.

ONGOING PROGRAMS
 
YOUTH FELLOWSHIP  will begin having regular meetings again on September 16.  All youth in 6th-12th grades are encouraged to join us for conversation, games, and snacks.  Come join in the fun!  Friends always welcome.
 
CREATING YOUR OWN PERSONAL CARDS  with Sandra Overton meets each Monday from 10:00 a.m. to noon. All  are welcome. Contact Sandra.

LECTIONARY BIBLE STUDY meets Mondays at 3:00 p.m. in the Maple Room. Revs. Melanie Weiner and Chris Breedlove facilitate the discussion, focusing on the scriptures that form the theme of the next Sunday's worship and sermon. New participants are always welcome. 

CIRCLE OF WOMEN meets the fourth Monday from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. for potluck and sharing.  Contact Irene Ogawa for more information.
