This Week At Your Library: April 14
|
National Library Week is Here! |
This week is National Library Week! As "Lives Change @ Your Library" is the theme, we would love to hear from you about the ways libraries serve you and how they have impacted your life. As a small thank you for being a member of the Old Bridge Library, please find a coupon for a DVD or Video Game check out at the end of this newsletter.
Just fill out a "speech bubble" form, or email us your library story. We have already received some wonderful stories from the community, particularly one that spoke of the library as a place of refuge after Hurricane Sandy, when so many were without power.
If you're on Twitter or Facebook you can tell us your story there, or post a library selfie of you in your favorite part of the library - just use the hashtags #NLW2014 or #LivesChange.
For my part Old Bridge Library has been a big part of my life the last seven years, but another library had an important role in my life. The Rainbow Library in Las Vegas was my first full-time librarian position; it was also where I first met my future bride, also a librarian.
Years later she convinced me to leave Las Vegas and move to New Jersey. Now we have a 17 month old daughter, and I get to enjoy raising her in this wonderful state.
A library may not how you met your significant other, but we'd love to hear your story!
Next week, I'll be discussing our future plans here at the library - particularly our Idea Farm project.
Regards,
|

"The library card is a passport to wonders and miracles, glimpses into other lives, religions, experiences, the hopes and dreams and strivings of ALL human beings, and it is this passport that opens our eyes and hearts to the world beyond our front doors, that is one of our best hopes against tyranny, xenophobia, hopelessness, despair, anarchy, and ignorance."
