  • Exporting Raymond

    Main Story

Follow Phil Rosenthal, creator of the hit television series Everybody Loves Raymond, in this incredibly funny true story of the attempt to translate Raymond into a Russian sitcom. A hilarious, warm and intimate journey of one man, considered an expert in his country, who travels to a distant land to help people who don't seem to want his help. Lost in Moscow, lost in his mission, lost in translation, Phil tries to connect to his Russian colleagues but runs into unique characters and situations that conspire to drive him insane. The film is a true international adventure, a genuine "fish out of water" comedy that could only exist in real life.

Phil Rosenthal graduated from Hofstra University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1981. He is best known as the creator, writer and executive producer of Everybody Loves Raymond (1996-2005). The show was co-produced by Ray Romano, and based in part on Romano's comedy material.

Come out and see a sneak peak screening of "Exporting Raymond" (Written and directed by Phil Rosenthal '81) on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 7 p.m. in the Student Center Theater. Admission is free. Question-and-answer session with Phil Rosenthal '81 immediately following the screening. To RSVP, contact Nicole Piampiano at 516-463-5284 or nicole.piampiano@hofstra.edu.
