  • Hofstra Orientation Leaders Information Sessions

    Main Story

    Orientation Leaders are upper-class Hofstra students who help plan and implement the Summer Orientation and Welcome Week programs. These students are responsible for helping incoming students with the transition to academic and co-curricular life on campus. During summer orientation, Orientation Leaders stay in the same residence halls and first-year students and lead them to sessions and give their perspective of college life. These are one of the most sought after leadership positions on campus.

    It's also one of the best summer jobs ever!

    You must attend one of the following information sessions to pick up an application:

    Education Recruitment Program. 4 p.m., The Career Center. The Education Recruitment Program is an interview event where students have the opportunity to apply and be preselected for interviews by both local and out-of-state school districts and charter schools. To participate in the program, students must be in their FINAL academic year at Hofstra University and receiving state certification to practice in a public school.     Coming Soon Reminders

    75 Stories for 75 Years. 9:00a.m. - 4:00p.m. David Filderman Gallery, Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, Ninth Floor. In celebration of Hofstra University's 75th anniversary, this exhibition, guest curated by Geri Solomon, assistant dean of special collections and Hofstra University archivist, is drawn from the University Archives collection, which focuses on the history of the University, and highlights 75 stories from the University's past. Through the use of photographs, original documents, memorabilia and objects, the exhibition tells the stories of William and Kate Hofstra, the University presidents, and Hofstra students, faculty and staff. Included are anecdotes and descriptions of events that many will have forgotten, such as: Who were the founding sisters of Alpha Theta Beta? With matted hair and chalky skin, covered more in paint than clothing, the sadhus of Thomas L. Kelly's photographs beam behind blank stares. The sadhus are nomadic, oft-nude, Hindu monks who give up worldly possessions and social constraints to wander in search of enlightenment; they practice yoga and meditation and use their bodies as canvases to express the journey.
