    Hofstra Relay For Life 2011. 7:00pm Intramural Fields Hofstra University's 4th Annual Relay For Life. It is a walk to raise money for Cancer.     Hofstra Symphony Orchestra. 8:00pm John Cranford Adams Playhouse. Join the Hofstra Symphony Orchestra for its annual spring performance on Saturday, April 30 (7:15 p.m. lecture; 8 p.m. performance). This year the Hofstra Symphony Orchestra welcomes renowned Belgian violinist Hans Van Kerckhoven, who will be performing Ottorino Respighi's Concerto Gregoriano. Also part of the program is Tchaikovsky's marvelous Fifth Symphony in E minor. Members of the Hofstra community may receive one free ticket upon presentation of a current HofstraCard.     Hofstra Celebrates 28th Annual Dutch Festival. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. One of Long Island's favorite traditions, the Hofstra University Dutch Festival, will celebrate its 28th year with swinging jazz music, thousands of tulips in bloom, face-painting, craft vendors and authentic Dutch food and beverages.     Midnight Run Clothing Drive. April 26th - May 10th. Help us help the homeless! Donate clothing and toiletries that we will be handing out to the homeless on the streets of NYC! We will be collecting: adult clothing (Button-down t-shirts, dress pants, skirts, t-shirts, jeans, hoodies, belts, hats, new socks, ties), backpacks, shoes, and travel-size toiletries.     75 Stories for 75 Years. 9:00a.m. - 4:00p.m. David Filderman Gallery, Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, Ninth Floor. In celebration of Hofstra University's 75th anniversary, this exhibition, guest curated by Geri Solomon, assistant dean of special collections and Hofstra University archivist, is drawn from the University Archives collection, which focuses on the history of the University, and highlights 75 stories from the University's past. Through the use of photographs, original documents, memorabilia and objects, the exhibition tells the stories of William and Kate Hofstra, the University presidents, and Hofstra students, faculty and staff. Included are anecdotes and descriptions of events that many will have forgotten, such as: Who were the founding sisters of Alpha Theta Beta? Who were James Barnard, George Williams and Olive Plunkett? What was the concept behind Aymar Embury's design of the campus? For more information: (516)463-5672.

Surfer Blood are reverby indie up-and-comers, hailing from West Palm Beach; Texan veterans . . .     Blankness is not a Void. Marc Jancou Contemporary, 524 W 24th St between Tenth and Eleventh Aves, Manhattan, NY. Blankness is Not a Void reconsiders American "low" culture with the works of Scott Campbell, the Brooklyn-based tattoo and mixed-media artist of-the-moment, who favors the skull motif; Steven Parrino, the late New York artist, known for his monochromatic, abstract pieces; and Raymond Pettibon, the California artist, known for punk-rock comic-like illustrations.     Bike Bonanza And Lower East Side Bike Parade. 10:00am. East River Park, Houston Street at FDR Drive, New York, NY. Get in gear for May's Bike Month festivities at this two-wheeled extravaganza. Those who attend will be treated to free bike helmets and bike driver's ed. Kids have it even better-they'll receive free lessons, and, if they're 10 or younger, can trade in their old bikes for new ones. Other highlights include a chance to work with New School students to tell bike-related stories. The event takes place at the 10th Street Walking Bridge in East River Park.     The Moth at the Pen World Voices Festival: What Went Wrong? 10The Great Hall, Cooper Union, 30 Cooper Square (bet. 5th and 6th Sts.) Manhattan, NY 10003. Cooper Union hosts Jonathan Franzen (Freedom), Warren Macdonald (A Test of Will), Alan Rabinowitz and Elif Shafak (The Forty Rules of Love), plus emcee Salman Rushdie, for an evening of stories revolving around the titular question "What went wrong?"     30th Annual Japanese-inspired Sakura Matsuri Festival. Brooklyn Botanic Garden, 900 Washington Ave, Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Hanami culminates in the two-day Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival. Visitors of all ages can enjoy a weekend celebrating traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. As we celebrate Japanese culture this spring, we remember the victims of the Japanese earthquake and its aftermath and invite our community to support relief efforts.
