Upcoming Performances & Events
BalletX, Philadelphia's premier contemporary ballet, kicks off its 2018-19 season with Fall Series 2018 at The Wilma Theater, featuring 12 performances, Nov. 28 - Dec. 9. The company, led by Artistic & Executive Director Christine Cox, will perform three world premieres by international choreographers Marguerite Donlon, Wubkje Kuindersma, and Cayetano Soto. Mark Stanley of the New York City Ballet returns as lighting designer of the Fall Series, with costumes by Christine Darch, Mark Eric and Stephen Smith, and original music by Dirk Haubrich.
Philadelphia's favorite holiday tradition, now in its 50th year, returns as Pennsylvania Ballet and Artistic Director Angel Corella present George Balanchine's The Nutcracker®. Presented by Cigna, performances run December 7-31 at the Academy of Music.
In Partnership with Movement Research and Arts Stations Foundation in Poland, Mascher Dance is excited to welcome Aleksandra Borys and Wojciech Grudziński for a week long teaching and performance residency in Philadelphia. Both dance artists will be available to meet with the dance community and will each teach a workshop at Mascher during the week. Workshops will be free for Mascher members to attend and cost $15 - $20 for the general dance community.
Annenberg Center Live presents the Philadelphia debut of Caleb Teicher & Company, Friday, December 14 (8 PM) and Saturday, December 15 (2 PM and 8 PM). Teicher's signature style of musicality, humor and warmth will shine in Meet Ella, a swing duet set to Ella Fitzgerald, and Variations, a tap piece set to Bach's timeless Goldberg Variations. Tickets are available at AnnenbergCenter.org or 215.898.3900.
