Since 1968, Group Motion's original work has contributed greatly to the Philadelphia dance community and beyond. They have touched the lives of countless people through their performances, which have included the presentation of and collaboration with local, national, and international artists, and through their workshops, which include international retreats and the ongoing Friday Night Workshop at the Community Education Center.

Three Aksha is known for their innovative approach to presenting the tradition and heritage of Indian culture and art, Three Aksha brings the beautiful intricacies of Indian dance and music to public audiences in "Sajeeva": A Unique and Innovative Bharatanatyam choreography. Creation, rehearsals and workshop phases are open to the community, will culminate in a public performance at the Painted Bride Arts Center.

BalletX, Philadelphia's premier contemporary ballet company, presents Summer Series 2018 at The Wilma Theater, July 11-22. The company, led by Artistic & Executive Director Christine Cox, will perform three world premieres by award-winning choreographers Penny Saunders, Matthew Neenan, and Andrew McNicol (2018 Choreographic Fellow).

Artistic Director, Michael Nickerson-Rossi of Nickerson-Rossi Dance newest work, Full Throttle, will take place at Philadelphia's Performance Garage located at 1515 Brandywine Street, Philadelphia on Friday, August 10th at 8:30 pm.

"We're presenting a rich diversity of dance this year," says Stuccio. "These are all veteran makers, but they are also disparate compared to one another. They all create from their own rather unique artistic frameworks, whether their work is informed by historical research, personal experiences, or the possibilities of movement. If you like dance, even if you tend to approach it with apprehension, this is the perfect year to dive in."

The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage announced its 2018 grants, totaling more than $8.7 million to support 45 artists and cultural organizations. "The ambitious and imaginative work of Philadelphia's artists and institutions will offer audiences outstanding cultural experiences in the year ahead," said Paula Marincola, the Center's executive director.
