NAMING SHABBAT - Saturday, March 17th at 10:30am

There are many reasons why a Jew may not have a Hebrew name.
Perhaps you never received a Hebrew name or you simply don’t remember your Hebrew name and have no way to retrieve it. Perhaps circumstances were such that you were not able to give your child a Hebrew name and you would like to now.
Whatever your reason, now is the time to celebrate with family and friends and receive a Hebrew name.

On Friday evening, March 17th at 10:30am, as part of our Shabbat service we will be bestowing Hebrew Names on all our members or their children who wish to and are eligible to receive one.

In order to receive a Hebrew name, please contact the temple office, so that we can assist you in choosing a name and fill out the appropriate naming certificate. We look forward to sharing this special Shabbat with all of you.

The theme for the day is Friendship .
Friends are so important in our lives. They share our laughter and sorrow. They make us want to be better people. Friends are all around you , including some you haven’t recognized as friends before. What is the meaning of friendship to you? Join us for the Shabbat morning service on March 17 at 10:30, followed by a kiddish lunch sponsored by Sisterhood.

Shabbaton for the women of the congregation will begin after lunch.
Through interactive activities we will explore what friendship means to each of us.

Carole King “You’ve Got a Friend”

You've Got A Friend"
When you're down and troubled,
And you need some love and care,
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me,
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night.
you just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again

Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there

You've got a friend

If the sky above you grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knocking at your door
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, running, yeah, yeah, to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
And I'll be there, yes I will.

Now, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend
When people can be so cold?
They'll hurt you, yes, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them,
Oh, but don't you let them

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, running, yeah, yeah, yeah, to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall

All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend

You've got a friend
Ain't it good to know, you've got a friend?
Ain't it good to know? Ain't it good to know?
Ain't it good to know, you've got a friend?

Oh yeah, now
Oh, you've got a friend
Yeah, baby
You've got a friend
Oh yeah...
You've got a friend

I Listening Hours Session:

This time of year -- with Spring in our sights and the busy-ness of prepping for Pesach -- is often associated with renewal and the chance to 'clear house' a little.

In that vein, we invite you to share your thoughts and views on the congregation.
  • What brought you here?
  • What do you love about our community?
  • What do you wish to see improved or changed?
  • Whether you are a new member or more seasoned, we would like to hear about your temple experience.

You can share all this and meet our congregational leadership at the  Listening Hours session on Sunday, March 18 from 10:00 to 12:00 here in the social hall. Sign up for 10-minute slots by e-mailing our president, Scott Garland, at .

It's been a tough season for those suffering from the  flu  and even though it is February, the flu virus is still going around, as well as seasonal colds.

We love being social here at CSS, but just a few tips on keeping yourself and others healthy this season:

  • Suspend hand shakes and kisses and hugs.
  • Greet with warm smiles or "elbow bumps"!
  • Wash hands frequently
  • Cover coughs with tissues or inside of elbow, not your hands
  • Get plenty of rest, Eat Healthy and stay hydrated
  • Stay home if not feeling well
  • Use hand sanitizers - we just purchased 3 new "Hands-free" dispensers for the building
