Project Nourish, Sunday, October 22 at 9:00am in the kitchen. Please join our friendly group of volunteers as we make sandwiches and assemble lunches for needy people in the city and Lake County. For more information, contact Merrilee Waldron.

In addition to our usual collections of toiletries, hearing aids, glasses, printer cartridges, and batteries, we will be collecting Nutri-Grain Cereal Bars (only that brand), squeezable apple sauce (like GoGo Squeeze, but any brand is okay), and new kids' hats and gloves. These much-needed items will be donated to Families Helping Families of Chicagoland, and will be distributed to kids in our community - the Highland Park School District, in particular.  There are students who come to school hungry, for whom a cereal bar and applesauce may be their only breakfast or after-school snack. We are NOT collecting used clothing at this time.   Thank you for your generous donations.

Looking for a group to volunteer at the Inspiration Cafe November 18 and December 16.  Congregants and B'nai Mitzvah students have the opportunity to plan a menu, shop for groceries, cook and serve a nutritious dinner with a dash of hope served in a restaurant-style setting to individuals who are on their journey from homelessness toward self-sufficiency.   Please contact Joey Waldman if you are interested.

October Tzedakah
First it was Harvey. Now, as we begin the Jewish new year, a series of natural disasters are taking their toll on millions of people, here in the United States, in the Caribbean and in Mexico. In just four weeks, hurricanes and earthquakes caused an extraordinary amount of destruction in these areas and the need is only continuing to grow. Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago is ready, raising funds to aid those affected and to rebuild lives and communities.  As always, the Federation will absorb all administrative costs, so that 100 percent of funds collected will provide relief for the thousands impacted by these disasters.
