Daniel Cainer Performs in a Free Concert
Saturday, April 14 at 7:00 pm
Daniel Cainer, award-winning British songwriter, storyteller, performer, and broadcaster will present his ever-evolving , Jewish-themed, one man show of unique stories in song:   Gefilte Fish & Chips.

Smart, funny, timely, and only slightly irreverent, Cainer's deeply moving tales about his family and observational comedy are a joy. His songs and his music are for anyone who has ever wrestled with home, heritage, and heart . . . and is partial to bagels.

This free concert is open to all in our community, made possible by using funds from the CBI Jewish Cultural fund.

Join us, this Sunday, when JCM United (Jews, Christians, and Muslims) will join together to participate in the program Rise Against Hunger; an organization that packs food for distribution in schools. Starting at 2:00 PM we will begin packaging meals in our Social Hall. Together we can feed hungry children who otherwise may not get any other daily meal.
                   "Back to the Garden"

Dear CBI Community,
Because of the wonderful participation on behalf of the many musicians, volunteers and all of you, my "graduation concert" was a success. Your presence, your enthusiasm, joy and excitement almost made the room burst - I wasn't even sure if I could sing! By way of your notes, emails and cards, I feel very fulfilled knowing that my concert was not only informative but inspiring and that my d'var about Kabbalat Shabbat was conveyed. My hope was that the effort put into this concert would have lasting benefit to my congregation. And so, it has: we have a wonderful 'vocal community' in place, with others expressing interest in. And, we have new repertoire for Shabbat! My hope is that we will gather monthly to sing and explore more repertoire that can enhance our holy days, festivals and observances. Please let me know if you are interested in joining us by emailing me at
The event was a true experience and I thank all of you who attended and helped to make it so wonderful. A special thank you goes to the CBI Board, Julie Chase and Abby King for their support, to Malina Breaux and Abra Teitler for providing the reception and to Rosemary Lande and Sandra Leader for providing refreshment to our musicians "back stage." This event could not have happened without the sound engineering skills of Anthony Nocita and Kevin Askeland of I.A.M.P. And because of William Roden of New Dawn Studios who videoed the event, I will be able to graduate from Hebrew Union College!
Many of you have inquired about access to the video which I hope to make available in the future. In the meantime, I must finish several other assignments before I leave again, the day after Passover, for one more week of cantorial school in New York. Thank you again for being such a magnificent congregation. I am blessed to serve you, Alisa Fineman
