DECEMBER 5, 2016 - IN THIS ISSUE
TOMORROW NIGHT
The second PTSO General Meeting will take place tomorrow, December 6 from 6-7:00 pm. The agenda includes general PTSO news, as well as a presentation focused on our philosophies and approach to standardized testing at Lab. Immediately following the PTSO meeting, we will transition into a  special presentation about our plans for middle school next year. This is a parent event for current Lab families, only. In addition to the formal presentations tomorrow night, you will also have a chance to ask questions, browse our spirit wear and used uniform sales, and connect with other Lab families. (BTW-We still need some help with the spirit wear sales. Please sign up here; no experience necessary.) I hope you can join us.

I have some good news about parking for this event!! We have made arrangements for our parents to park at the Hal Marshall Annex lot at  618 N College St after 5:00 pm on 12/6. This lot is located just a block from the school. The best way to get there is to travel across the train tracks on E. 9th street, take a right at the light onto College St., and enter the lot on your right. IMPORTANT NOTE: The county staff have agreed to let us use their lot AFTER HOURS ONLY! Please do not park in this lot during the day and be sure to park here only when you read in our enewsletter that we have been given permission.

HOLIDAY HELP
I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of our Lab families who have donated gift cards for our Annual Holiday Helping Hands event. We are nearly halfway toward our goal of collecting 110 gift cards to help our families in need and provide food and goods, such as holiday meals, shoes, warm clothing, groceries, and gas money. If you would like to support the CLS community, please sign up to help here. You may send gift cards to the front office and request a donation receipt if you would like one. We will be collecting gift cards through Friday, Dec 16. Thank you in advance for your support.

I hope to see many of you tomorrow night.

Sincerely,

Mary Moss Brown

DEC 10 MOVIE & HOLIDAY MARKET
Join us for the Charlotte Lab School Movie & Holiday Market on Saturday, December 10 from 3-5:00 pm at UNCC Center City (right across the street from school).

This FREE event is a great time to drop-off your kids for a special screening of Disney's Cool Runnings while you enjoy time visiting with other Lab School parents and shopping at our Holiday Market.  Simply register here to get your free movie tickets . Preregistration will help us ensure that we have enough volunteers to watch the children, but don't worry if you can't print your tickets in advance.

Check out the flyer that we sent home in last Friday's green folders for more info on the great auction items and vendors.

We could also use some additional volunteers to help  watch the kids during the  movie. There will be 3 shifts of approximately 40 minutes each, so you will still  have time to shop and mingle with other parents. Sign up here.
ORDER STUDENT PICTURES BY DEC 15.
A friendly reminder that your child's school portrait gallery will expire on December 15. And, if you would like to receive your prints before Christmas, your order must be placed no later than December 10. This order deadline is set by the lab and cannot be adjusted. However, if you would like an extension on your child's school portrait gallery and you do not need your photos for the holidays, please email Mandy French .  Don't forget, all photo galleries will be deleted after December 15, 2016.
UPCOMING DINING NIGHT
Mark your calendars for a delicious dining night out at Viva Chicken. On Tuesday, Dec 13, Viva Chicken on Elizabeth Ave. will be hosing Charlotte Lab School from 4-8:00 pm.
