12th Night Potluck Party!

Come celebrate Epiphany! The Feast of Lights is a candlelight service at 5:00pm that recalls the holy men and women of the past and present who together form the body of Christ and reflect the Light of Christ coming into the world.  Please come for this beautiful and peaceful service and then stay for the annual 12th night party.

This Week

Seeing the face of God in each other - an anti racism workshop. On Friday, January 12 from 12-8:30 pm and Saturday January 13 from 8 am-4 pm, St. John's in Chevy Chase will host a two-day anti-racism workshop, presented by the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. You will have the opportunity to join other Episcopalians from around the diocese and delve into this timely, thought-provoking and often divisive topic.  The Diocese has a staff of professionally trained individuals who will lead attendees in striving to find common ground to use as a basis for overcoming racism. A CPR/AED Recertification Course  will be held at Christ Church on Saturday, January 13, from 12:00 noon - 4:00 p.m.  This course is for people who received certification in the past few years.  Cost/person is $40.00.  Please let Kurt ( administrator@ccpk.org) know if you plan to attend.

"Sock Sunday" is coming!  On January 21 all are invited to bring a new pair of socks to the service for our homeless neighbors.  We will present them to the Interim Director of Bethesda Cares who will be speaking at the Adult Forum that day.  

Altar Flower & Sanctuary Candle Dedications Dedicating the Altar Flowers or Sanctuary Candle is a way to remember loved ones who have gone before us, or celebrate a blessing in our lives.  If you would like to dedicate the altar flowers or sanctuary candle for a particular Sunday, please sign up on the sheet on the office door and give a donations of $50 for the Altar Flowers or $20 for the sanctuary candle.  The office will contact you during the week for the details of your dedication.
 

  The Nominating Committee is looking for leaders. If you are interested, or if you want to nominate someone, to be considered for the slate of Vestry nominees, please let us know.  The Vestry is a group of 12 people, elected for three-year terms and charged with leading the parish in both its spiritual direction and its business affairs.    Elections will be held at our Annual Meeting on Sunday, February 25 after the 10:00 a.m. service.  Please contact Sharon Bartram, Chair of the Nominating Committee, psbartram@verizon.net or 301-946-0632.
