 "Rim to Rim to Rim"

Member Gerd Nunner completed his
100th Rim to Rim to Rim hike in
the Grand Canyon on March 12th, 2018.

Its taken Gerd 14 years to complete these hikes and has finished all RRR's in under 18 hours and one RRRR (rim to rim to rim to rim) in 25h45m. With his fastes RRR hiking time being 14h30m.

The "Rim to Rim to Rim (RRR)" also known as the "Death March" is a 42 - 46 mile hike from the top of one rim to the top of the other rim and back. It is a double-crossing of the Canyon with a total elevation change of 22,000 feet. According to the unwritten rules, this hike has to be finished in less than 24 hours.
"My first RRR was the hardest hike I ever did. I finished it in 16h50m. If anybody asked me if I would do that again, I would say "NO." The next morning on the drive home - still overwhelmed from the scenery, sore muscles and stiffness - I thought, "I should do this again." A few months later, I did my second RRR and became hooked. My latest and 99th RRR was on October 5th of this year - on the way home, I had no sore muscles, cramps or stiffness. I was thankful for another adventure in one of the most beautiful and majestic places on our planet."
"To my knowledge, 99 RRR's is the highest number anybody has ever accomplished. This feels very good, but the number is not my motivation. I am inspired by the challenge that nature offers. It encourages me to live a healthy and active lifestyle. It trains my mind to be disciplined, never give up and push my limits."
