A look ahead to ( NOT this week but) the following week & month:
HV's Halloween Parade
(at the special Tuesday Flag Deck, 10/31):

At 8:20 on Halloween morning, HV students will sit with their teachers and classes in a big ring on the Lower Playground (with parents behind). Then, class by class, they'll parade in costume to applause, oh's and ah's, and parents grinning ear to ear. Student's costumes at HV MUST NOT BE SCARY = no weapons, no clowns, no scary masks!!! Follow  these guidelines set by Dr. Schmidt and bring comfortable clothes to change into after the Parade.

Tuesday, 10/31 will also be a special Early Out Dismissal ( 1:25PM).
There will NO SCHOOL Wednesday, 11/1.
HV Fundraiser: The Jog-A-Thon, 11/3

HV’s  9th Annual  Jog-A-Thon is almost here! The Jog-A-Thon's fun, involves everyone, and raises funds to make our school stand out. Next week on Friday, November 3rd, Flag Deck will be on the Upper Playground. Our kids will run with their classes throughout the morning (according to this schedule). Come cheer them, their teachers, Dr. Schmidt, and more on - along with local firefighters and our favorite dad D.J. - as they speed or amble by in a happy, sweaty rainbow of Jog-A-Thon shirts, balloons, and smiles!

To prep. for the Jog-A-Thon:

#1: Students & Families, Please gather pledges from family and friends  now (using either or your pledge forms).  Pledge forms will be  due next week, 11/2.

#2: A signed PERMISSION SLIP is required for each student to take part in the Jog-A-Thon. Permission slips will be  DUE in classrooms  THIS FRIDAY, 10/27. ( Click here for a printable version.)

#3: There will a Meeting for Volunteer Jog-a-Thon Lap Counters THIS FRIDAY, 10/27 after Flag Deck in the MPR. Contact your class' Room Mom to sign up!

#4: Students, Plan to get lots of rest the night before the Jog-A-Thon, wear lightweight clothes and shoes good for running on the day ( 11/3 ) , and get ready, set, go!

HV Parent Tip: SAVE your child's Jog-A-Thon t-shirt after the event as his/her teacher might ask students to wear their shirts on field trips later in the year. The bright colors pop, making it easy to head count who's with HV - anywhere!
Make a Guess in the 'Principal for the Day' Raffle!

Print out this flyer and guess how many steps Dr. Schmidt will take during the Jog-A-Thon - as he runs with all of the classes! If your family's guess/es comes closest your child will be 'Principal for a Day'! $2 entries due to the School Office or at Flag Deck by 11/3, 8:50AM.
