NEW This Week
“Can you tell us about a time in your life when you felt out of control and discouraged and someone brought peace into the situation?”

I remember as a teenager attending a Bible study and being presented with the gospel message for the first time. When I heard it, I remember thinking to myself, “Well if having Jesus as the Lord of your life is what it means to be a Christian, I am not one.” That same summer my older sister, who had been rebellious in her teen years, became a believer and I could see a huge change in her life. She went from being argumentative and selfish to someone who tried to honor my parents and would often write home about the ways that she was seeing the Lord at work in her life. She talked to me about the changes that God was making in her and told me that God loved me and that she loved me and was praying for me.

A couple of years went by and as I grew older I could see myself being more confused about life and realized more and more that I was a sinner. I saw my sister consistently walk with Jesus and knew deep down that she had something in her life that I didn’t, something that I wanted. She continued to tangibly love me and pray for me. At a mission weekend that our church held, I prayed to receive Jesus as my Savior. When I look back on that time, however, I praise the Lord for significantly using my sister to show me His reality through the way that she loved me and patiently pointed me to Jesus.
