Pender United Methodist Church Logo
By following Jesus and reaching out to others, we seek God's transformation of ourselves and our world.

Please join us this Sunday, May 21st, at our 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00 am worship services.

Pastor Kenny will be preaching at all 3 services on Our Life as a Sacrament (Philippians 1:27, 2:5)

"Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel." (Philippians 1:27)

A Note from Pastor Kenny...
Pastor Kenny
A Time of Renewal and Learning

Having served Pender for 16 years has been a joy in ministry for me.  Actually, I have been in ministry in the United Methodist Church for 37 years.  One of the ways that our denomination supports pastors is by allowing us to take a renewal leave.  I will be on renewal leave from May 14th until July 9th.  I am grateful to have this opportunity to take the time to renew and learn during this time.  As a part of the leave, I will be spending time on an archeological dig outside of Jericho, Palestine.
While I'm gone, Pastor Dan will be on call for any pastoral needs.  I will be preaching at all 3 services on May 21st as Pastor Dan is running a half marathon that day.  Please pray for him and me during this time.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Kenny

An Invitation from the Hugo Family

Dear Pender family,

Please join us for the senior recital of Lydia Marie Hugo on June 3, 2017 at 3 pm in the Sanctuary of Pender UMC.

Lydia offers her music to the glory of God with thanksgiving to Him for this gift which fills our lives with such joy.  She will be offering a selection of vocal, piano and bell music.

A dessert reception in celebration of Lydia's graduation will be held in the Fellowship Hall following the recital.  We hope you will come celebrate with us!

Love in Christ,

The Hugo family

Join Our New Studies
Holy Communion

Did you know the first Christians were thought of as cannibals? We could be accused of the same today, for we still say we eat Jesus' body and drink his blood. What's up with that? Bring all your questions about Holy Communion and gain a deeper understanding in a class taught by Pastor Dan, Wednesdays, beginning May 24th through June 14th at 7-8:30 pm.

Balancing Life's Demands

Beginning May 28th, The New Directions 9:30 Sunday School Class invites you to join them for a DVD study entitled Balancing Life's Demands, by Chip Ingram.  This study will provide us with some tools to help us get a handle on our busy lives and to bring our priorities under the submission of God for His glory and our good.  We meet on Sundays in Rooms 218-220.
