A Legend Retires
Jim McEwan, the master distiller of Bruichladdich, has announced his retirement. In a former life, I had the immense good fortune to work with Jim, selling his beautiful Scotches for an importer.
There is simply nobody else like him. Passionate, stubborn, and firmly devoted to Islay, he was an ambassador for the whole island.
Remy has acquired Bruichladdich. We'll just have to hope they won't mess it up too badly. Meantime, we'll be busy seeking out the last of Jim's Scotches, and his delicious Botanist Gin, too. Slainte!
Vago Mezcals
This line of mezcals takes 'artisan' to a whole new level. Single variety agave, stone ground, wild yeast fermentations, infusions.....these are smoky, earthy, incredibly delicious spirits. We have their Espadin and Elote (infused with toasted corn) in stock.

Early on, we decided Pour Richard's would welcome well-behaved canines. The ordering of your own environment is a side benefit of entrepreneurship; we thought dogs would be a great addition to our little world. So we don't sell chips, candy bars, or Slim Jims, but Bailey (in picture-hi, Bailey!), Cocoa, GiGi, Jasmine, and all our other friends can come visit. Yes, we are DOG PEOPLE.
The people at Forever Home Rescue are DOG PEOPLE, too. This wonderful organization, just down the road in Medfield, has re-homed well over one thousand dogs. Think about what that involves: transporting the dogs (mostly from the American south), vet-checking, vaccinating, dealing with physical and psychological issues, not to mention the basics of food, equipment, and enough foster homes to care for them all.....it is a huge, complicated, time-consuming, and extremely expensive undertaking.
For all those reasons, we are immensely proud and happy to collaborate with Whole Foods Bellingham on a benefit for FHR. Next Sunday, May 3, from 1-4 PM, Pour Richard's will host Bottles & Bark.
We will have a great deal of fun with this event. Whole Foods is supplying the food-yum! And they haven't forgotten our dog friends-try out their organic dog foods and treats.
Our favorite suppliers will be pouring delicious wines at crazy discounts. George Schwartz (aka 'Mr Italy') has some Lacrima Christi, Aglianico, and Sicilian Zibibbo. Sheri Karl is bringing our all-time favorite WA red. Dave ('Cachaca Dave') Catania is returning with some killer spirits. Plus 3 more tables-all discounted 20-70% off regular retail. Graduations? Spring parties? Vacation home? Stock up here, and save BIG.
But the best reason to attend Bottles & Bark is simple: they could really use your help. The $10 suggested donation goes directly to FHR. In addition, Pour Richard's will donate a percentage of sales.

Drink Pink!

I think we have already established that
real men and women Drink Pink. And everyone-truly, everyone I know- has been touched by the cold hand of cancer. At Pour Richard's, we combine our passion for great rose with with a desire to eradicate cancer from our lives. Once a year, we host Drink Pink for the Cure, a fundraiser for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Last year, our 'tickets' were T-shirts. For this year, our third annual Drink Pink, your 'tickets' are gorgeous Riedel stemware, etched with our logo, and Drink Pink! They will be available to purchase in-store or online within about a week.
Whole Foods Bellingham is providing food for this event. We are, naturally, pouring fabulous rose from all over....Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and a couple of domestics, as well, including Carol Shelton's exquisite rose of Carignane. Taste our favorite Tete a Claques before we run out. And we will also have some red, white, beer, and cider.
Newsflash! Lisa and Theresa, the Snappy Dog hotdog ladies, will be here in the parking lot selling their amazing creations.
And best of all? 100% of your ticket price and a portion of all sales will be donated to Making Strides.
