Memorial Prayers for the Departed after Liturgy this Sunday

Autumn Beauty

Our part of the world is famous for its beauty during the Autumn. Tourists flock to "see the colors." The heat of summer has passed and we enjoy the cool prior to the arrival of Winter.

As we see the beauty around us, we do well to remember that all beauty points to God, the Author of all good things.

Take time as you watch nature's color show to give thanks to God for that He does.
What Could Be Better? A Chili Feast!
Mark your calendars! Chili Pot Luck Coffee Hour

On Sunday, Oct. 29, we will have an autumn-themed “Chili Pot Luck” for our coffee hour meal. Bring all types of chili, cornbread, and apple desserts, to enjoy together as we celebrate Fall in East Tennessee!
Memorial Prayers for the Departed, Sunday after Divine Liturgy

Traditionally, services of prayers for the departed are held on Friday/Saturday of this weekend (St. Demetrius weekend). However, because of the scheduling of the Orthodox campout this year, a service of memorial prayers will be held on Sunday morning after Divine Liturgy.
Orthodox Camping – this weekend – in Hot Springs, NC

Hot Springs, NC, Church Campout October 20-22, 2017 -- The Annual Church Campout begins on Friday this coming week! The campout is attended by Orthodox parishes and missions in the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia and Kentucky. Below are the scheduled liturgical services, and the "usual" hikes. This year Archbishop Alexander will be attending as well! If you are not able to camp for the weekend, you will still be welcome as a ‘day-tripper’ on Friday or Saturday.

All are encouraged to participate Community Meal on Saturday, October 21 at site #459 (riverside, across from the stage). The meal will be blessed at 6:30 PM (shortly after Great Vespers concludes). Here is a link to a Google spreadsheet for more info and to sign up: Please RSVP to let us know you are coming, and to indicate what you will bring to the community meal, and/or for what “duties” you may be volunteering (see below).

Tables will be set up at #459 by 10:00 AM on Saturday to drop off hot dogs (there will be a cooler for them), paper goods, and NON-perishable foods through the day. Other dishes should be dropped off closer to Vespers. 5-10 volunteers will be needed at 4:00 PM to help with some set-up tasks, and about 5 volunteers are needed after the meal to help with cleanup.

There are two specific needs to bring to your attention. Please sign-up if you can bring them: 1. Lanterns or strings of lights to hang up (there is power at the site). The more, the better. 2. We also need 2 turkey fryers (pot, stand & propane tank) for warming hot dogs.

Please plan to join the feast. There are eight parishes represented so far! Sharing a meal together will be a wonderful time to get to know one another.
