From the Rector Dear St. Patrick's, Grace and peace. Our Day School is on Spring Break making our office and building very quiet. Thankfully, the Senior Saints lunch brought activity to the building yesterday. We are also doing some maintenance activities that are good to do when fewer people are around. I would note that this is a perfect time to bring your rummage donations to the lower level of the parking garage (see below for more information). We are making good use of the season of Lent. Please take time, during this time of preparation, to get ready for the celebrations of Easter. I have written about the action plans set by the Vestry at the Annual Vestry Retreat held in February 2011. In previous Wednesday emails, I have described the work of the "Recruitment and Retention," "SPARC," and "Spiritual Life" committees. Today, I continue with the glamorous work of the "Governance" committee. You might be thinking that "glamorous" is not the right term to describe governance, but more vestry members wanted to serve on this committee than any of the others. Although governance is often done behind the scenes, it is important to the overall health of any institution. It is certainly important for the health of St. Patrick's and the optimization of our abilities to serve God through this Parish. The committee is currently reviewing our by-laws with an eye toward modernizing the procedures for 21st century technology, ensuring that the by-laws are consistent with the canons of the Episcopal Church, USA, and evaluating the term length and size of our Vestry in comparison with other similar parishes. Although much of this work is done behind the scenes, it will be presented to the Parish for discussion and, ultimately, for a vote at the Annual Meeting in November of 2011.
Faithfully,
Read last Sunday's sermon titled, "Sherlock." |

God's Saving Deeds: A Biblical Exploration of Salvation
Please join the Rector for God's Saving Deeds: A Biblical Exploration of Salvation, a Lenten study at 9:00am on Sunday mornings.
In this six-week Lenten education offering, we will read and explore the biblical narrative of salvation. The readings from the Easter Vigil will be the framework as we travel from Creation, through the history of the patriarchs and matriarchs, the prophetic period, and ultimately to Jesus' Resurrection. Although there will be a common theme and progression, each class session will stand-alone.
For March 27, prepare by reading Genesis 22.1-18.

Classroom sessions and interactive concerts for elementary school students are designed to reinforce basic concepts of music-making and highlight a musical heritage reflecting the diversity of American and world cultures.
