Holy Week Begins April 1st: Enter into the Most Important Story of Our Faith
Save the Date - Good Friday Kids Workshop
Rummage Sale!
From the Rector

Dear St. Patrick's,

Grace and peace. Those who have either given up something or taken on a new practice for Lent, it is hard to believe that there are more than two full weeks left, but it is true. We are, most definitely, on the downhill slope. I pray that all of you are continuing to see fruits from your disciplines. Many of you are reading Brian McLaren's book titled Finding Our Way Again. There is a special forum conversation with Bishop Mariann and Brian McLaren at the Washington National Cathedral on Monday, March 26th from 7:30pm-9:00pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to put a capstone on the discipline of reading this book which is about grounding ourselves in the spiritual practices.

This is the time to make summer plans for your children. There are two camp opportunities that may be of interest to you. Camp Wright from June 23-29, 2012 on the Chesapeake Bay and Camp EDOW (the new Diocesan Camp) from August 5-10, 2012 on Breton Bay. Camp EDOW is a new project of the Diocese of Washington. Since the early fall, I have served on a task force to implement the camp for this summer.

I will be attending both camps as part of my ministry to the wider Church, so I hope that you can join in the fun, fellowship, and formation. [More Camp Information]

I ask a favor of those of you who wish to help a student at the National Cathedral School. Her name is Chace Conroy and she is doing research for an AP Human Geography class on the relation of proximity between home and church and attendance. I am not checking up on your attendance; this is a real project. If you have a minute, would you please complete this five-question survey. She will be very thankful.

Faithfully,

Kurt's Signature

Music at St. Patrick's

Great Handbells on Sunday!  We thank members of the 7th and 8th grade Classy who played some terrific Irish tunes for our St. Patrick's Feast Day service.  This after having stayed up most of the night playing silly Irish themed games and finding potatos and Celtic crosses throughout the church during our middle school St. Patrick's Day Lock-In.

Thank you also to our Family Choir participants who helped make our worship extra special on this Feast Day Sunday and to Ellen Teplitz for providing the ever important donuts this time!

Check out pictures from the Jubilate Deo's mini-musicals that are up on the website.

Coming up...our Mother's Day GALA Concert!  This year it will be a "Community Sing" led by the Cantoris and Jubilate Deo choirs.  So....

What would you like to SING???

We are taking suggestions for the program and especially want to include YOUR favorites!  Here are some categories:

Your favorite Broadway show

Your favorite Classical gem

Your College song (Alma Mater, School Song, Fight Song...)  Maybe a spirited school song rivalry?!?

Your favorite High School song from the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's or the 2000's!

Folk music favorites from around the world

Rounds and Silly songs

Your child's favorite tunes

Send us your ideas and plan to invite some friends and family for an afternoon treat on Mother's Day, May 13 at 5pm!

Youth Group News

Our 6th-8th Grade Youth Group celebrated St. Patrick's Day weekend in style with their own St. Paddy's Day party and overnight Lock-in. There was Volleyball (Green Smurfs vs. the Fighting Irish), Blarney Stone lore, an Irish Scavenger Hunt, green hair, relay races with snakes and balloons, and more. Many thanks to Rev. Andrea for leading our young people in a late night Eucharist, to Patrick Duke and Willy Hoffman who chaperoned, and to Garrett and Stephanie Lowe who donated hamburgers for grilling in anticipation of their own Youth Group adventures once Nora and Kemper reach that age!

Donate Flowers for Easter in Memory or Honor of Family or Friends

Please consider donating to the flower fund for our festive Easter flower display on the altar by sending a check made out to St. Patrick's with "flowers" in the memo line or by donating online at our website. The suggested donation for Easter flowers is $25, but please be as generous as you are able as we fund the altar flowers solely through donations. Please email Karen with the names of those you are honoring by Thursday, April 5th.

If you would like to dedicate flowers on any other Sunday throughout the year, please donate $75. Please send Karen the names of those you are honoring and the Sunday date you would like the dedication to appear in the bulletin.
