St. Patrick's Episcopal Church

From the Rector
Dear St. Patrick's,

Grace and peace. Today, we flip the calendar to September and begin the final push to "Kick Off" Sunday (September 12, 2010). I look forward to beginning this program year with you, and hope that you will take this opportunity to reinvest yourself in your spiritual development here at St. Patrick's. Try St. Patrick's again, for the first time!

On September 12, the choirs of St. Patrick's will begin again after the summer hiatus, children will be invited to see their Sunday School classroom, backpacks will be blessed, and a variety of educational offerings will be unveiled. We, of course, will continue to give thanks to God for our many blessings, hear and reflect on God's Word, and gather together in fellowship. This is part of our mission that never takes a break.
If you have been away, please read or listen to the sermons from this past summer. The sermons are available on our blog, an online journal. This is a great opportunity to renew and realign yourself to the ministry God is calling from you.

Next Tuesday, St. Patrick's Day School will inaugurate the 2010-11 school year. Our Day School is not an independent school; it is an important ministry of this parish. It is one way that we fulfill our mission to serve the children of Washington, D.C. Please keep the faculty and staff, who serve as important ministers of this parish, in your prayers.

Faithfully,

Music
Woodbridge Flute Choir
Woodbridge Flute Choir
This week four members of the Woodbridge Flute Choir (including our own "resident flutist" Barbara Neal) will be here on Sunday to share some wonderful music in our worship service. These flutists have been with us for the last several years and give us a special lift on the holiday weekend. The Woodbridge Flute Choir has been performing on concert series', and at charitable and gala events, the KennedyCenter and the White House since its inception in 1996. Part of its mission also is to educate its members and the Washington area flute community so they sponsor master classes and performances with internationally notable flutists. They have produced three CD's which are available on their website www.woodbridgeflutechoir.org. Don't miss this wonderful treat!
