God speaks to us all the time.  But he speaks to people most often through the Bible. That's why we seek to let the Bible speak on its own terms, in ways that follow the contours of the Bible, and in the case of the cast of characters we meet here - Samuel and Saul and David - the shape the Bible gives to their lives is real. Real people who have fear and anxieties, highs and lows, and who do good things and bad things. The Bible is as real as it gets and the Books of 1 & 2 Samuel help us to understand ourselves in this same light as we study a nation and it's leaders which is at a crossroads in their own history.

Our team of eight parishioners from St. Timothy's will be leaving in three months from now, and we really need your help. The need in the Bwindi Region overall, with the Batwa tribe and at the Bwindi Community Hospital is significant. What follows is a needs list of items we would like to take with us, focusing on the school children and on the mothers in the Maternity area who have just delivered.

Needs:
  • Scarves - handmaid or store bought - the brighter the colors the better (Approx. 50-60)
  • Classic crocs - men, women & children in assorted sizes & colors - no sizes larger than      a man's 10 (Approx. 50)
  • Book bags - being made by our sewing ministry with bible verses on them
  • School supplies: 20-30 packages of pencils and ball point pens, hand pencil sharpeners, medium sized spiral notebooks and composition notebooks (standard ruled lined paper)
  • Deflated soccer balls, inexpensive hand air pumps with needles, and jump ropes
  • Nightgowns - lightweight and long (for women in maternity ward) (Qty. 25)
  • "Momma packs" for women who have just delivered (Qty. 40 complete packs
    • Lightweight reusable cloth-type grocery bag with handles containing:
      • Newborn diapers loose (not in box but in ziplocks)
      • Sanitary pads for the mothers
      • Two (2) flat packages of baby wipes
      • Isopropyl alcohol prep pads for umbilical cord cleaning
      • Two (2) lightweight receiving blankets
There is a collection table set up in the Hallway in which to drop off items and ask questions.

Summer Bible Verses

In the Narthex, you will find 10 Bible Verses for Summer to read, discuss, and explore with your family and friends!  Pick up a copy and if you need more, let Kim Lehnhoff know.

I take home the Sunday bulletin or save it after a Eucharistic Minister's  visit so that I may add the Prayers of the People to my daily Quiet time. It helps me keep involved.

Thank You

Sunday, July 1st 10:30 service was superb.  I'd like to say it was fun, but that doesn't do justice to the excellent sermon and our Eucharist.  What was fun was the music, the brass, the Barber Shop Quartet and the rousing recessional.  I'm still humming Sousa's March. All we needed was a snare drum. Thank you especially Paul.
