Our Weekly Blast!

The People's King:  The Hope of the Future Series

Week 1 - Who's Piloting the Ship? - June 3rd
Week 2 - A Counterfeit King - June 10th
Week 3 - There's More to Him than Meets the Eye - June 17th
Week 4 - David Defeats Goliath - June 24th
Week 5 - The Song of the Bow - July 1st
Week 6 - The Covenant of the King - July 9th

God speaks to us all the time.  But he speaks to people most often through the Bible. That's why we seek to let the Bible speak on its own terms, in ways that follow the contours of the Bible, and in the case of the cast of characters we meet here - Samuel and Saul and David - the shape the Bible gives to their lives is real. Real people who have fear and anxieties, highs and lows, and who do good things and bad things. The Bible is as real as it gets and the Books of 1 & 2 Samuel help us to understand ourselves in this same light as we study a nation and it's leaders which is at a crossroads in their own history.
Travelin' Jesus is Back!

In the Narthex and by the Children's Nursery, find "Bendable" Jesus to accompany you and your family on trips near and far this summer. You'll also find in the same spots the "Bendable" Bible to be part of your Bible studies and reflections during our Summer Break.

Stay tuned for more resources as we keep the faith in formation this summer of 2018. Contact Kim Lehnhoff with questions.
New Bible Study - "War Room"

Our next Bible study will begin on Tuesday, June 19 at 1:00 pm in the Blue Room.  This study is based on the movie "War Room."  We'll watch the movie together on the 19th.

War Room Bible Study  is based on movie clips by the same title where Tony and Elizabeth Jordan seemingly have it all - great jobs, a beautiful daughter, their dream home. But appearances can be deceiving. In reality, their marriage has become a war zone and their daughter is collateral damage. But with the help of Miss Clara, an older, wiser woman, Elizabeth discovers she can start fighting for her family instead of against them. With her newly energized faith, Elizabeth's real enemy doesn't have a prayer.

The book is $8.00 to $10.00 depending on how many we order. Please contact Nancy Carter by June 8 if you would like a book.
Summer Bible Verses

In the Narthex, you will find 10 Bible Verses for Summer to read, discuss, and explore with your family and friends!  Pick up a copy and if you need more, let Kim Lehnhoff know.
Uganda Sewing Ministry

We have started a sewing ministry to support our international mission to Uganda.  We will be making blankets for new mothers, scarves, decorated school bags, and larger bags for the pregnancy center and ladies in the village.

You are encouraged to join us on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-12 to sew as a group.  If you would like to contribute by sewing on your own, patterns will be available.

For more information, contact Sherry White at  997-0444 or Dale Rasco at 297 2625.
Episcopal Night at Minute Maid Park - July 13

Hot dogs will be available before the game at Christ Church Cathedral from 5:00-6:30 p.m., then walk with the crowd to the ball park. Tickets are in the 424 level, higher than in previous years, for $22 a seat. Let Carol Bohley ( rbohley@sbcglobal.net) know by June 18 if you are interested, so she can get tickets for us all.
Youth and Family Minister Search

We are seeking full-time minister to lead our youth and small-group ministries as well as to provide support for our children's Sunday School programs.  This unordained position reports to the Rector and will oversee a group of lay teachers, parent volunteers and other lay leaders.
