Theaterquest Taking It Outside on Thursday; Slow Art Day on Saturday

Join us Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. for Theaterquest. The program brings talented teen playwrights and actors to the Hunter to perform original works inspired by art in the Hunter's collection. This year, the students focused on works found in the Museum's outdoor sculpture collection.

Admission to this event is free for Hunter members, high school students and their families.

Slowing It Down: Slow Art and
Mindful Awareness
Hunter curators and yoga instructor Jonathan Ellis invite you to celebrate National Slow Art Day by slowing down! Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m., bring your mat and join us for a mindful afternoon. The program begins with slow examination of a work in the Hunter galleries with a focus on meditative mindfulness. Following the in-gallery experience, there will be a guided slow flow yoga practice on the Hunter Terrace. Admission to this program is included with regular Hunter Museum admission.

Continue the awareness during dinner with a culinary voyage of slow food down the hill at 212 Market restaurant. 212 Market will offer local artful food selections for dinner and a discount for everyone participating in the Slowing It Down program.

Albert Paley Speaks

Sculptor Albert Paley 
Noted artist Albert Paley, has been working for more than 40 years and is the first metal sculptor to receive the Institute Honors from the American Institute of Architects. Paley will speak at the Hunter Museum of American Art as part of the Art Wise speaker series on Thursday, May 2 at 6 p.m. (A cash bar will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m.)

The program is open to the public and is included with regular Hunter Museum admission (free to Hunter Members, $9.95 for adults). It is jointly presented with the Chattanooga Public Art Committee, the Mid South Sculpture Alliance and Chattanooga State Technical Community College. The Art Wise series is generously supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee Community Trust.
