The next workshop in the Alexandria Small Business Development Center's Start, Manage, Grow series will feature the new City Manager and staff from the City's Departments of Planning & Zoning, Code Administration, Transportation & Environmental Services, Finance and the Alexandria Health Department describing all of the positive changes that have been made to help businesses in the City (Tues. 6/12 at 8:00 AM, Mary G. Gates Learning Center, United Way Worldwide, 701 N. Fairfax St., registration required).

 

The City Council will hold a work session with the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership (AEDP) to discuss work on an updated Economic Strategic Plan (Weds. 6/13, 5:30 PM, City Hall, Council Workroom).

 

The City Council will hold their first legislative meeting of the month where items of interest includeconsideration of New Trolley Service to Old Town West, Del Ray and Arlandria, followed later in the week by their monthly public hearing where the docket includes development approvals for a new multi-family building on Pickett Street, the Delaney (current bowling alley), Carlyle Plaza Two, and Braddock Gateway Phase II (Weds. 6/13 at 7:00 PM and Sat. 6/16 at 9:30 AM, respectively, City Hall, Council Chambers).  

 

Members of the community are all invited to learn about the proposed reuse of the former Restaurant Depot site by Enterprise Holdings- which includes Alamo, Enterprise and National Car Rental- who would like to locate its vehicle staging and light auto maintenance facility on the site (Weds. 6/13 at 7:00 PM, former Restaurant Depot site, 4700 Eisenhower Ave).

 

The Eisenhower Partnership will be hosting a 'Yappy Hour' to benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (Thurs. 6/14, 5:30 - 7:30 PM, Foster's Grille, 2004 Eisenhower Ave).

 

The City of Alexandria is hosting a public meeting on BRAC-133 Mark Center Short and Mid- term Improvements, where attendees will learn about construction schedules and upcoming construction activities(Thurs. 6/14, 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Francis Hammond Middle School, 4646 Seminary Rd).

The Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association (ACVA) will host their Summer Social, a popular event where ACVA members and friends enjoy a summer evening of great food and cool drinks (Fri. 6/15, 3:30 - 6:00 PM, the Alexandria Marina aboard the Cherry Blossom, registration required).
