The Brown Bag series, sponsored by the Small Business Development Center and the AEDP, targeting new and growing businesses, continues this summer. Word of mouth is the most effective form of marketing available.  That's because 92% of people trust recommendations from a friend or acquaintance.   Attendees of this month's brown bag will learn how to effectively mobilize their customers to spread the word and help their business grow.  The program, titled 'Get Your Customers to Market your Business...for Free!'will be presented by Elizabeth Neely and Joseph LaMountain of Alexandria-based Reingold, Inc. who will work with participants in this interactive session to teach best practices for stakeholder engagement and share ideas for developing "calls to action" that customers can take to help hone messages(Tues. 8/6 at noon, Economic Development Boardroom, 625 N. Washington St., Suite 400, register online).

The Alexandria Industrial Development Authority (IDA) will hold their regularly scheduled meeting where they will consider changes to an existing bond issuance by Volunteers of America. AEDP staff serves as the administrator for the IDA (Tues. 8/6 at 5:00 PM, AEDP Offices, 625 N. Washington St., Suite 400).
