Events & Activities

What's Next, Alexandria? is a community conversation about civic engagement and planning for the future -- and how Alexandrians can best participate in the public decisions that shape the City.  At the 4th and final Community Dialogue participants will have an opportunity to 1) review the draft elements of the Civic Engagement handbook and 2) work collaboratively to develop a communications and outreach infrastructure to ensure that more residents can be meaningfully engaged in public decision-making in the City. Opportunity for comment will continue through part of the summer, and City Council will review the document in the fall (Mon. 6/24, 7:00 PM, First Baptist Church Activity Center, 2932 King St., more information).

The Alexandria Small Business Development Center, along with the AEDP and City of Alexandria, is hosting a State and Local Procurement Expo, featuring representatives from various agencies who will be available to speak one-on-one with attendees. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will discuss how businesses can sell to the Commonwealth, representatives of VA Megaprojects will describe how to 'Get a Piece of the Action' and the City of Alexandria will explain how Alexandria buys goods and services (Tues. 6/25, 9:00 AM - noon, Landmark Mall - Community Room, 5801 Duke St, registration requested).

The Arlandria Chirilagua Business Association (ACBA) will hold a membership and networking meeting that will focus on Four Mile Run Park developments, and updates on the trolley and Mount Vernon Village Center (Tues. 6/25, 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Po-Siam Restaurant, 3807 Mt. Vernon Ave).

The City Council will hold their final legislative meeting of FY2013 where items of interest include Approval of the Revised Long Range Planning and Plan Implementation Work Program for FY 2014 and Beyond and consideration of Ratification of a Contingent Contract to Sell City Property at 509 North Saint Asaph Street and 511, 513 and 515 Oronoco Street (Tues. 6/26 at 7:00 PM, City Hall, Council Chambers).
