Doers and Dreamers

People who make Kingston special

Name:    Brandy Walters

Business: Rondout Music Lounge (soon to be The Anchor)

Occupation:    Co - Owner

Age:  35

Where are you from originally? Born in southern NJ; but called the Hudson Valley home since I was 2 y/o.

Why are you here? I have left several times and have lived all over the north east; however, I am always drawn back.  There is just so much beauty and art here.

What is your favorite hangout?  Rondout Music Lounge obviously, but it's not just because I own the place.  I really enjoy our clientele and they tend to be the people I want to hang out with anyway.

Tell us something we never would have guessed about you.  I collect Pez!  I started collecting them as a kid and have since developed quite the collection.  I love them.

What keeps you here?    Besides the obvious beauty of the Hudson Valley, there is always something to do (hikes, festivals, markets, shows, etc).  Most of all, though, is the passion of the locals.  As a community Kingston locals do not give up, they keep working hard to make things better and don't accept defeat.

What would you change?    I would like to see Midtown thrive.  There are so many amazing buildings just sitting there vacant, it's a shame.

Where would we find you on Sunday mornings? Serving brunch down at the Rondout Music Lounge (soon to be The Anchor).

When you're not in Kingston, what's your idea of a wonderful city to visit, and why? I love Portland, ME.  There is so much art and culture there. The beaches are amazing as well.

The Rondout Music Lounge will be moving to their newly renovated location at 744 Broadway and changing their name to The Anchor on September 13th

The Summer Schmooze and Benefit for Queens Galley

Summer's here, and the time is right for some great music and good company.

Kingston Digital Corridor and the Ulster County Musicians Network are happy to announce a lazy summer afternoon of music.

UPDATE: As you might have heard, a benefit for Queens Galley, scheduled for 8/3, had to be cancelled. SO... we'll be taking up the slack, and passing the hat, bucket, cup, boot and anything else we can to help raise funds for them!!!!

Live music (including multiple jams... bring your instrument!), plus Wavy Dave spinning some fine tracks... networking and just plain hanging out with your fellow Ulsterians... topped off with the fine food and drink of Keegan's!

So come on out and get LAZY! Keegan Ales, 20 St. James Street, Kingston, NY.
